A Rant on Laci Green
I don’t think she’s evil for wanting to seek different perspectives on controversial topics, such as gender identity and the way feminism interprets it. I do take issue with the fact she argued with a literal TERF, who doesn’t believe that trans women should be a part of feminism and pedals fear of “””men””” invading women’s spaces in order to justify the misgendering of trans people. Trans women are women. That’s not a debate, that’s an objective fact.
However, I think my biggest concern with Laci’s interpretation of gender is her prefixation to refer to sex and gender as the same thing when talking about sexual health issues. She claims it’s too hard to use “people who menstruate” in place of “women” because she doesn’t want to confuse cis kids that are ignorant about their own bodies. She wants to be able to say males and females rather than penis-havers and vagina-havers, because in her mind, trans people are such a small percentage of the population that she doesn’t feel the need to change her language because a few extreme liberal feminists are inconveniencing her. This is especially true with her erasure of intersex people, and her belief that there are “basically two” sexes. There are thousands of variations just in the biological conditions of non-intersex folk, and to deny the variety of sex characteristics in the spectrum of humans so she can maintain an outdated belief on sex is lazy and irresponsible. She should acknowledge these differences and how the way scientists interpret sex is through a socially constructed view, based on the way men and women “should be”. She should acknowledge that trans kids need a sex education too, and make the effort to create content targeted directly at trans people by using inclusive language and recognizing how trans bodies evolve due to hormones or surgery. Instead of complaining about how feminists are erasing sex, why not understand that the way society interprets sex is inherently flawed? If she insists on discussing a topic that’s targeted toward people of a certain sex, such as pregnancy, she could talk about it in terms of cis women and have a guest speak about the effects of pregnancy on trans men and nb people. That is a much more comprehensive method that includes all experiences, and doesn’t require Laci to learn new vocabulary that doesn’t offend anyone.
But honestly, if she feels her need to use cissexist terms in reference to sex education matters more than the lived experiences and the dysphoria of trans people, an easier option would be for her to stop calling herself a trans ally and just admit she doesn’t give a crap about trans people.

My blogs are all what you’d call ‘food for thought’ but the food is just the apple in my profile picture. Think of it as a green apple pilled matrix esque vibe
