I just really love your art, it's so beautiful to look at. I'm a beginner digital artist and I was wondering if you have any tips on how to shade (like any video's you watch or artist you studied to help you with your artstyle) and how you choose your colour palette. You don't need to respond if you don't want to.
I'm just struggling to get use to digital art. And I just wanted to say your art is fantastic.
Hi @greencherryart21
Thank you so much! 🥹
I completely understand your struggle! Currently I just set it to a color that I’m familiar with because I sort of know from experience, but before that, I’d just pick apart all of my favorite art from other artists and examine it. In what range do they color certain things? What happens with the color when it’s in shadow or when certain light falls onto it?
It might feel overwhelming now, but I’d always recommend watching any video about color theory with a document open so you can scribble and experiment along with it. At some point it will click, I promise you. I also think your best teacher is what catches your interests. You might learn realistic lighting (old, traditional paintings are good to study!), but maybe that’s not what you want to draw. And if you want to learn flat colors first to get you going, you can study Anime screenshots! They’re very consistent, so it might be a bit easier ^^
I wish you a lot of inspiration on your digital art journey-you can do it! 🧡
