Green Circle

Green Circle is a social enterprise dedicated to waste paper management, using the 3Rs Principle: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Green Circle innovatively combines green office practices with women empowerment and in doing so has a positive impact on the environment and community.

At Green Circle, we approach organizations/establishments to become our member. Members benefit from our knowledge on best practices of waste paper management as well as get their waste paper collected for proper recycling. They also get a discount on the recycled office stationary products that we produce.

Green Circle provide Green Bags to its member organizations, into which they fill the used papers that will be collected from GC staff member on regular basis. The papers collected are brought to the facility - weighed & segregated. Proper recording is done into our web based system so that Green Circle as well as our members can track the amount of waste that is generated by their organization.

At our recycling facility, the waste paper is segregated into two types – ones which are reusable and the ones which need to be recycled. Papers that are separated for reuse purpose are sent to make different reused paper products such as newspaper bags, pouch bags and envelopes. And the recycle papers are further sent for processing where the used papers are converted into recycle sheets & pitch boards which are further used to make recycled paper products such as files, folders, office kits, card holders and jewellery boxes.

The reused paper products are manufactured by the various women groups which we have trained over the past several months. Through the training we have empowered women to develop a skill and generate additional income for herself and her household.

How green is done!

If you have been to the salon lately, you might have noticed an Eco fee attached to your receipt. This small fee is a huge step in protecting our environment, and the future of our planet. We have become members of Green Circle Salons, which is a zero impact waste program that re purposes all the materials we discard in the salon. They reuse our hair refuge, discarded foils, all leftover colour, and old equipment. The goal is to have the salon industry sustainable by 2020 in a way that is affordable and achievable. In 2016 and beyond, we have greatly minimized the amount of waste that will go in a landfill. We just wanted to thank you guys, and to officially say ttyn to the ugly side of our industry.
