Gremlin sonic has been all over my Twitter dash all morning and Disney took extra measures to make sure he was even more ugly in the chip and dale movie and every time I scroll on Twitter I just

The original design for Sonic the Heddgehog for the 2020 Sonic the Hedgehog movie returned in the Disney+ movie “Chip and Dale: The Rescue Rangers”, sporting a beer belly, red eyes and an even more pronounced snot, the character is named “Ugly Sonic”, with the lore being that Hollywood abandoned him after they hired another better looking actor to replace him.
Gamer Sonic meme I used as a response. I put too much effort into this and it should be shared with the gay masses uwu
i do NOT want to admit how long this took
Initially, I didn’t think too highly of the new Chip ’n Dale film.
I only knew of its existence when I found out that Ugly Sonic would be making an appearance, and I didn’t think the reference was all that funny. The disastrous first trailer came out years ago. He wasn’t relevant anymore. And it was spectacularly bad timing to dig up the corpse of the gremlin while Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was doing so well at the box office.
When I then read up on the plot of Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers as a whole, it felt very mean-spirited to me. It seemed to be almost mocking people who cared about animation and found enjoyment in it.
But then I kept looking it up.
I watched more YouTube videos reviewing the film and discussing various controversies. I found clips on Tumblr of Chip being a mood and Dale being a dork. I heard about the emotional core of the film - Chip and Dale falling out and seeking reconciliation and learning about the importance of communication.
And now, even though I still haven’t seen the film, I ship Chale and I’m buzzing with sequel ideas.
Of all the things to hyperfixate on, it had to be the film that mocked Sonic, didn’t it?
