Therian Hot Take;

I think that we as a community need to stop being so gatekeepy. I say this as an adult within the community and a paleotherian who doesn’t experience shifts, whose kin is something lost to the soil. Like I get it, “fake” therians exist, but being rude and pushing them away from this community is the LAST thing we wanna do. Just like how we have found ourselves here in a world that pushed us away, we need to encourage and embrace those who we consider “fake”. Teach them. Help them. Run with them. They are or if not more as lost as we were. So don’t keep them out, let them in so they can learn. Cause if we push them away… we are no better than those who pushed US away.

Edit: I want to make sure I’m clear when I say this, I’m not saying “don’t gatekeep”, I’m saying “Don’t gatekeep the ones that are genuinely just trying to learn/find a community.” If they are being disrespectful and don’t listen, obviously that’s deserved. The ones that are “confused” or want to understand or looking for a place to find others like them, don’t gatekeep! Everyone is just trying to figure themselves out! Continuing the hate only brings more hate. And if you really have a big problem with this, then don’t interact with that side of the community. It’s okay to not want to accept this, that’s why it’s a hot take. It’s my opinion. I would much rather give these people a chance to understand and find themselves then just say “No, get out.”

I also acknowledge that I am someone who LIKES having tough conversations like this and is ok with dealing with those who make fun of me or others, it’s sort of my job. And if you’re not okay with that, that’s FINE!! And completely valid!! You should have the option to not interact with people like that!!!

As someone who lives in the US and the Midwest. Fuck em. Melt em. Anyone who steals kids and innocent people while also murdering people who are just trying to go home or are a part of a peaceful protest can go too hell. Anyone who supports the batshit that’s going on in our government can go to double hell.

If you want to support your people and your community, remember, peaceful protests and do NOT give in. What the Government wants from us rn is to get mad and attack. They want us to look bad. The government also is putting out things to distract us, don’t get distracted from what is happening. The Trump administration is smart, they know what they’re doing, so we HAVE to stay focused and stay aware of what’s going on.

Love your neighbor. Help your community. Bring people together not apart. Make sure you are doing whatever you can to help. And you might say “But I’m a college student” or “I don’t have money” or “I’m scared”. It’s ok. Help however you can! I’ve been making bracelets and been active in my community!! I help people understand their rights! You don’t need money! You don’t have to go to the protests! You just have to support and know that you helping is enough!!!

And Remember everyone. Nuetrality is Fatality. You choose to not choose a side in this, you choose the side of the Oppressor.
