First annual International Asexuality Day announced for 6 April »

The inaugural International Asexuality Day has been announced, with the annual day set to be celebrated on 6 April.

Hey I’m just looking to see if what I feel fits the gray ace spectrum. I get crushes and act like a schoolgirl. I giggle, get nervous, butterflies, and all that. And I can see someone as like super hot But I don’t really have sexual feelings towards my crushes. It’s like it’s almost but not quite sexual. Or it’s just mild sexual attraction. Every once in a while I do get sexually attracted to someone tho.

It is by definition grey! Grey asexuality is very vague, for a very good reason because it’s meant to be wildly encompassing. If that once in a while is worth noting grey is a wonderful label to use. But if it isn’t worth noting, or is only sometimes worth noting asexual as an umbrella term is also there to help you on a confusing rainy day

Happy very first International Asexuality Day!!! (April 6th, 2021)

According to their website, “IAD is a coordinated worldwide campaign promoting the ace umbrella, including demisexual, grey-asexual and other ace identities.”

The themes are Advocacy, Celebration, Education, and Solidarity (Aces!!)

“These themes highlight the aims of recognising and enabling the work that the international ace community and organisations do, particularly in non-Western and/or non-English speaking countries. We encourage anyone who identifies under the ace umbrella to participate in IAD, particularly but not exclusively in non-anglophone and/or non-Western countries.”

Full disclosure, I’m not a non-anglophone or living in a non-western country, but I figured I could help spread to word to other aces who are.

(Interestingly, April 6 is also National Garlic Bread day which...can’t be coincidence)
