I dunno how unpopular an opinion this is but I can't help but find it kind of weird how Jeralt keeps Byleth ignorant of everything in Fodlan considering his relationship with Sitri? Like their whole thing was him regaling her about tales of outside Garreg Mach and her falling for him for introducing her to stuff she never knew about... and then he turns around and keeps HER CHILD that she had with him and had DIED giving birth to ignorant on all the things she fell in love with knowing?? Because he didn't trust Rhea, as in Sitri's mother/mother figure and the woman Sitri trusted enough to keep her baby alive upon her death?? And he didn't trust Rhea because Byleth didn't have a heartbeat or much emotions... like their mother?? Like Sitri literally had those traits too???

SO much of Jeralt's handling of Byleth just spits on Sitri and their relationship. I can't help but think she'd be horrified to know that despite travelling across the continent all their life her baby was just as ignorant to and isolated from the world as she was specifically because the man she loved made sure their baby was raised that way. Or that the man who opened her heart to more emotions was the same man who SHUT their baby's heart!

It's kind of ironic. The things that made Sitri fall in love with Jeralt were exactly the things he kept away from their child. She wanted Byleth to live and gave her heart for them, and Jeralt still managed to rob them of a normal life by raising them the way he did.

Jeralt not trusting Rhea could be seen as being scared in the moment, but the man holds onto his distrust until his death. Which is WEIRD because he has lived for over 300 years! He would have seen Rhea switch identities at SOME POINT. WHAT scared him? The lack of a heartbeat? Like you said, Sitri didn't have one either. Did he think Rhea was being secretive and cagey? Rhea is ALWAYS secretive and cagey. And he would be used to that after knowing her for so long.

i really don't understand why edelstans want hopes to be taken as canon so badly when that game has edelgard do her vague reforms an entire year before she declares war on the church. it makes her look like an even bigger liar than she already is lol

FR she gets the church's help to drive out the Agarthans and she just... DECLARES WAR ON THEM ANYWAY? Hopes makes it blatantly clear that her ultimate goal is conquest (look at her supports) and people will still say she HAS to get rid of the church for her reforms.

The patriarchy girlboss thing is really dumb when you consider Edelgard is strongly influenced by male characters and general masculine ideals.

She is the chosen one of the agarthans, a predominantly male group whose only named female member is disposable fodder. She agrees with Nemesis, a character who represents the worst traits of masculinity. She cares a lot about her father but doesn't seem to give a shit about her mother. It is implied she wanted to become a mage when she was a child, but her usage of axes is part of the agarthans influence through Aymr. She encourages Byleth to be emotionless and values them mostly for their power. The devs created her to play a role that was previously only for men.

This is the opposite of Byleth, who is influenced by female characters and positions. They start as emotionless killing machines that learn to show their emotions and support others. Their hidden talent is white magic, and their connection to a Goddess is resembling of prominent female characters such as Micaiah, Celica or Julia. They learn about their mom and their divine powers are a gift from her. They are the succesor of Rhea, have the same talents as her, and can become archbishop, which is a female position in Fodlan.

When you take into account the devs confirmed Edelgard and Byleth are meant to be rivals and parallels, and how they seem to favor Male Byleth according to Engage, it can be seen as a woman taking on bad masculine traits versus a man discovering his feminine side.

Edelgard’s lack of interest in looking into the history of Fodlan beyond what her (dubiously reliable) father and (fantasy Nazi torture squad) TWSITD tell her is such a clear and glaring character flaw that so many of her “did nothing wrong” fans defend as Good, Actually. Like I can’t wrap my head around it, we know that there’s so much about the history of the continent that El either doesn’t or refuses to learn and while it’s understandable in some ways why she can’t it’s still like. Bad. It’s so clear that if her actual goal was liberation then she would’ve done more research, gone to the church and told them that hey, the Slitherers™️ are at it again and we need to do something. But she doesn’t, because that’s not actually her goal… it’s conquest of the other two nations and an overturning of the current system to favor her (mostly already privileged) friends, plain and simple. But people who either didn’t play any routes but CF or just didn’t pay attention/have poor media analysis skills love to say otherwise. Bluh.

I still can't get over how she was tortured and lost all her siblings to TWSITD and decided that the CHURCH was the biggest threat.

Edelgard 100% believes she is in the right and is the ONLY person who is right and thus is the ONLY person who can bring about change. And with "change" I mean "unify Fodlan and bring it under the control of the Adrestian Empire like it was in the past".

At no point does she consider that Wilhelm's history could've been tampered with, or simply been misunderstood after a whole millenia has passed. And why not? Because it's the only thing that drives her hatred for the church, and if it was disproven then she has no leg to stand on? Probably!
