The Pacific Black Duck!

A waterbird commonly found in the South-Eastern Pacific islands.

In the Maori Language they are known as Pārera, The grey duck. They are distinguished from the similar female Mallard by the green on the edge of their wing that is not bordered by white.

Would you get another cat friend for Goose?

October 19, 2019 - Pacific Black Duck, Grey Duck, or Australian Black Duck (Anas superciliosa)

Found in much of Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, and nearby islands, these ducks are closely related to Mallards and will interbreed with them where Mallards have been introduced. They eat seeds, aquatic plants, insects, crustaceans, and mollusks, dipping their heads under the water to forage or plucking plants and insects off the ground. Females lay clutches of between 7 and 13 eggs in shallow nests on the ground constructed from marsh grass and other vegetation, twigs, and down feathers. They incubate the eggs alone.
