July 18, 2026 - Grey Fantail (Rhipidura albiscapa) These fantails are found in woodlands and scrublands across Australia, New Caledonia, The Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu. They feed on insects, especially beetles, flies, wasps, bees, and ants, as well as spiders, small crustaceans, lizards, and some fruits and seeds, sometimes joining mixed-species flocks. Pairs build small cup-shaped nests from grass, bark, lichen, twigs, hair, and other materials. Both parents incubate the eggs and care for the chicks. They may raise two or more broods in a breeding season.
