wow that's a really cool concept!! and don't worry it was a great answer! thank you!!! ^^
i'd like to ask about what you think of macaque rasing xioatian as he grows up. like, when xiaotian was a baby or a toddler, he surely spent most of his time sleeping and macaque surely had more time to find supplies (even if he did it quickly) or to rest.
but as xiaotian grows up, he spends more time awake playing and being a curious boy, so macaque has to be there to keep an eye on his kid, protect him from other demons, teach him, read him books, and play with him, while at the same time he needs to find more supplies because his kid needs more food and clothes than when he was a baby.
since he seems to have a very limited amount of magic, what would happen if macaque accidentally runs out of magic/energy at some point? ^^
Those are good questions ✨
his protectiveness likely won’t change but understands that MK is a growing boy so he needs to get out of the house more, socialize, have a life of his own. And he’ll damned if he takes that away from his kid. But at the same time he can’t just get rid of these (over)protective instincts just like that. Macaque lost his best friend, he doesn’t want to lose his son. Because of that fear, this may or may not drive a rift between them unfortunately.
Also like any ghost, they cling to the mortal realm because they have unfinished business, and in this case, revenge and to take care of his kid.
Originally in my rough drafts of the third part of the series the demon that Macaque was fighting was going to rip his arm off and then that arm would just melt back to the darkness itself. but it was scrapped.
That’s what might happen if the entire body no longer has any magic to be sustained. He’s using whatever magic he has left to control the shadows themselves to make a body for him. If he runs out of magic, his form will simply disperse and then he will truly pass on to Diyu.
