AU Head cannon: Grey-Summers children Reincarnation

ok, first let me say, it has been a Long time since I actively read Marvel’s X-men and connected titles.  In fact I stopped reading it around the time of the Onslaught arc. and I only really started reading X-Men at the mid way point of the Phalanx arc.

That said, my knowledge of the 4 grey/summers spawn is limited, and not really cannon compliant. so AU, all the way.

The premise is this:  when a person is reincarnated, they are Not reborn in the same timeline.  each rebirth lands them in a new universe.

Rachel Summers, as one who is Merged with the Phoenix and taken that as her name, is reincarnated almost immediately after death.  She has become a personification of Life/Death/Rebirth in an endless cycle.  Her powers (telepathy, telekinesis, empathetic) are all tied to the Phoenix Force, and thus don’t change.

Strife is not reborn as fast as his sister, but is always reborn at the same time as Cable.  And despite always looking almost identical, they never related by blood.  Cable always seeks out his twin/clone/doppelganger, but after the first 2 or 3 lives, Strife is no where near as broken as he was when he created the Legacy virus.  He’s as stable as he’s likely to get.  When one of the two dies, they know they will have to wait until their death to see their brother again.  And unlike their sister, their powers do change over time.  Strife has been a teleporter, and Cable has been precognitive Among other things.

Nate Grey took the name Exile after his second reincarnation, as he is always the oddball of the four.  He is always born last, and the least often.  Where Phoenix has lived for 5 thousand years (collectively) and Cable and Strife have managed about 3 thousand years each, Exile has only managed a bit under 2 thousand years of life.  He is slowly growing closer to his siblings, as they are all together when he gets reborn, but he still does his own thing more often than not.
