Chapter One Hundred and Eleven
Which I avoided by flying to the left, ducking into the entrance to the Lion’s Temple. “No matter,” said the black-cloaked man, “he will never be able to take immaterial form again, for as long as he lives,” he turned to face me, and said, “there is no escape for you, now that you’ve gone in there.” Mr Sillypants stood right at the entrance, wearing a wicked grin. The black-cloaked man turned back to face Mr Sillypants. “Well, Greylord? Kill him.” I immediately began flying down the hallway, the heavy, stomping footfalls of Mr Sillypants behind me. “I am going to tear you in half, just like I did to Lacy!” he roared as I flew over corpses and shattered glass. “Do you know what I did to her remains? I shit on them! That’s what I am going to do do yours when I catch you, Jasper!” I zipped past empty rooms, then through a hall where the chandeliers had fallen in the fighting. “Your whole world is going to end, now,” Mr Sillypants was screaming as he stomped after me. “I already told you why The Keeper sent me back here... do you want to know why I chose to come back here? It was so that I could undo everything that you had worked so hard for, that you risked your life for, that you lost Lacy for!” He stomped down after my flying projection down a staircase, two staircases... and it was while we were going down one of those staircases that he almost grabbed me by the foot. I had managed to pull it out of the way just in time, but I had felt the fur of his palm brush my ankle. He was gaining on me. I flew as fast as I could until we arrived in a sprawling underground chamber. Thirteen black mages were sitting in a circle chanting around a giant stone statue of a man standing and staring at the sky in horror, with diagrams etched in blood covering the walls. A middle-aged Jerry Fallright was standing on a pulpit overseeing the chanting, and when he noticed us come in he pointed his shotgun and fired. The bullet bounced off or Mr Sillypants harmlessly. I flew up to the statue, back against it... and had turned around around just in time to see Mr Sillypants’ fist flying at my face. There was no possible way that I would be fast enough to avoid this.
