Marcus Puma

"The Prowling Panther of Echo Hills"     Since he was young, Marcus has led a troubled life. As far back as he can remember, he's felt a deep emptiness within himself, and he's spent much of his youth trying to find a way to fill the emptiness. This would lead him to forming a small gang at Echo Hills High School. It wasn't enough. Marcus shifted to trying to find fulfillment in more physical activities, at first resulting in him bullying other students at school. This would help to soothe some of his pent-up aggression; however, it still didn’t fill the empty void he felt within himself.     After getting in trouble several times Marcus’s parents enrolled him in SumA training, in hopes that it would teach him discipline and help to release his aggression in a healthier way (as well as hoping it might be able to be used to raise him without getting involved themselves. They don’t go to see his matches.)

    SumA helps, but not by much. The emptiness remains. It does give Marcus bit of purpose and resolve. He decides he wants to be the best, strongest SumA Player, thinking that in doing so, the fame and fortune may give him the fulfillment he so desires. As his journey into SumA continues, Marcus becomes acutely aware of Kochi Hikatsuki, a 3 time champion of the sport. From then on, Marcus declares Kochi as his rival and aspires to surpass him. This all comes to a head when the pair meet during a SumA Tournament. It’s a tough match, and Marcus comes close to winning, but in the end, Kochi turns things around and defeats him. Marcus is upset and enraged by his loss, the feeling of emptiness feeling like it’s only growing bigger and all consuming.          It's then that Marcus is approached by Tom and the Masked One who offer him the fulfillment he seeks. They promise him that merging with his Shadow will allow him to finally feel whole and give him the strength to defeat his rival. Marcus agrees and merges with his Shadow, joining Tom in the Red Eye Gang...

Matt Itsurugi

A transfer student from Pol-Astranvale. After moving to Echo Hills, he quickly gravitates toward Jun and Kochi. Matt is a SumA wrestler in the solo league, and is a huge fan of Kochi. When he accidentally lets this slip, Kochi urges him to join the school SumA team. Matt is a strong SumA wrestler on his own, but struggles to get used to working on a team.

Matt’s goal is to someday surpass Kochi. This piece features a little bonus, because Matt happens to be one of the characters I made a mock up of to test out Unreal Engine's Meta Human thing, so I went ahead and included that as a bit of a realistic interpretation of how he might look

Bud Bailymoore

A somewhat goofy kid living in Echo Hills. When the educational terrorists known as "The No Schoolers" attack Echo Hills High School, Bud and his girlfriend, Luna step up and join Jun Kamino in the fight to save the school. Bud likes to wear a fake cat tail. In his free time, he's joined the School SumA team, and when he's not doing that, he can often be found working at his family's Pizza Shop, "Woe is Me Pizza".

Jun Kamino

The reincarnation of Htrae's Creation God, Gillean, and the protagonist of Greysmoke. Jun is steadfast and kind, though he can sometimes come across as a bit serious - at least, to those who don't know him well. Since his birth, he's known about his destiny as Gillean's reincarnation, and has worked as an Agent of Blackveil since his early childhood. As a result, his family has been forced to move around a lot, so Jun never really stays in one place for long. Jun is almost always seen wearing his Ambrosian Nectar Diamond Necklace. It was an artifact he found when he was young, and it has the powerful ability to magically heal any wounds - including those that would otherwise be fatal. He fights with a Shifting Sword known as The Black Jade that can transform into various other swords that have been collected over the years. He's very close to his adopted brother, Kochi Hikatsuki. They're an inseparable pair and always do their best to support each other.

Claire Bennette

A strange girl who lives in the Sacred Forest. She has the ability to communicate with wolves and some other creatures and nature, although she herself isn't sure why she has this ability... She's not directly associated with Blackveil, but she does have connections with a particular professor at the Trial by Fire Academy

Buckishiro

A mysterious creature living at the Trial by Fire Academy. Buckishiro has developed a strong bond with Ashley Fortemino and although he's not her pet, they can often be found together. Buckishiro is very smart and seems to know many of the school's secret passages. Buckishiro comes from an endangered species known as an Ovurat.
