(I started a substack, by the way)
If you’re into fantasy, magical academies, character-driven stories, or serialized fiction, check it out.
There's something of a short turnaround this month because I realized Chapter 2 was basically the length of 3 chapters, so there's going to be another one tomorrow and then a worldbuilding study after that

Next Spin Vol 2 | The Wild Dogs are Back!
Every time Mayblade comes around, I end up rewatching so much Beyblade and I genuinely can’t fathom how anyone can call Takao weak or pathetic.
Keeping his beyblading skills aside, like physically he is so strong. In V-force, he matches up with the driving speed of cars on a bicycle TWICE, he literally runs the length of half a town within minutes.
Even with Kendo, his grandfather is a Kendo master (you can’t get the license to teach or run a dojo unless you get to a certain level, trust me I’ve done plenty research) and Takao is often shown to outsmart him during training, landing direct hits on him. This also proves that he definitely knows how to strategise, to land a hit on your opponent in kendo, takes not just strength but concentration and quick thinking.
During the abducted island part, his ankle breaks pretty early on in the arc but he actually does suppress all of that pain and is hyperactive and goes on to battle through all of it AND WIN mind you 😤 He also has to be held back so many times when he gets angry, like everyone just knows he’d throw a few punches and start a fight (that he will 100% finish).
And I was just watching the first episode of Grev yesterday and I realised that when Daichi shows up with his unconventional way of battling outside of the Beystadium, there are two moments that make Kai smile. First is when Daichi taunts Takao about not wanting to step outside his comfort zone, Takao immediately takes up his challenge and commands Dragoon to follow Gaia Dragoon up the hill. Kai sees this and smirks at how easily Takao has kept up with Daichi. Next when Takao is struggling against Gaia Dragoon’s attack, Kai advises him to focus on the beyblade itself - and sure it’s Kai who points him in the right direction, but the one who comes up with the strategy to use Daichi’s own play against him and totally destroy him in the match is Takao. That’s why Kai smiled when Takao wins because he knows that Takao is just that strong, and can’t be done in with new tricks so easily.
And this is just one example, there are sooo many more.
Like does nobody ever stop to think that maybe the reason half the plot of Grev is everyone wanting to compete against Tyson and beat him to prove their own worth is because they all think Tyson is just that strong?
The only thing that actually weakens him is when his mental health takes a hit after his friends abandon him, literally the only time he hasn’t been able to battle at full strength in any of the seasons is when he the opponent in front of him was someone he considered a friend or an ally.
Literally one of the most well rounded protagonists in shonen/sports anime and people like to downplay his character as “plot armour” just because they actually refuse to watch all the scenes that clearly showcase his various strengths (and weaknesses).
Can confirm, this is true. (Also in the Manga, he does occasionally throw actual punches lol)
This also isn't to mention how he pretty seamlessly adapts to beybladers literally warping reality around him, like Tala and especially Brooklyn. One of the things I actually really appreciate a lot about Classic Beyblade is the way a lot of the themes run through a whole season, I think G-Revolution is a perfect example of this. OP mentioned the scene in episode 1 where Daichi's Gaia Dragoon is knocked out of the stadium, but he insists on continuing to battle, stating that "Where I come from, the whole world is our stadium!" and Tyson, of course has to adapt to this. But that doesn't stop after the first episode, it's a running theme throughout the whole season, with many of the stadiums they battle in during the tournament taking on the form of large and open outdoor spaces rather than standard issue dishes or even the more enclosed special stadiums in the first season. This all ends up culminating in Tyson literally having to beybattle in the sky of Brooklyn's New World where there is no ground let alone a stadium, and at that point...he just kinda does it.
Tyson's charisma levels are also off the charts if you want to get even more technical. Maybe it's more "persuasion" I'm not sure, but it's worth noting that he pretty much single handedly reformed several otherwise evil or shady beybladers, convincing them to stop cheating, often times while mid-battle with him, and always resulting in him winning.
This is technically a separate topic, but it's worth noting, too - if we considering the Manga continuity as canon in place of Anime Seasons that don't exist, Tyson is also the most versatile protagonist, with experience in every generation of Beyblade (Prior to X) as per the Beyblade Rising Manga where he and the OG's experience Beyblade Burst, and the Metal Fight system wouldn't have existed without the HMS. But I digress, I'm really just geeking out here because I have a deep appreciation for OG.
He's not my favorite Beyblade Character, but he's certainly still my favorite of the protagonists.

In honor of our Minnesota Superheroes and for everyone involved in fighting back and keeping MN safe, I wanted to say Thank You with Kinetic and Puck. For those who were murdered: Renée Good, Alex Pretti, and all those who we don't know, may they rest in power. For NUR-D, Thank you for all that you've done. I'm grateful that you made it home safe. It's still too early to believe this is truly finished, and it won't be while we remain under the flag of this regime. But there is hope in knowing our strength. There is strength in knowing we don't run. And as spring begins to break through this cold winter, there is faith in remembering that ICE Melts. I love you, Minnesota. I hope you had a lovely Valentines Day. I know I did.💜

anti-fatness is not just body shaming.
anti-fatness is discrimination. anti-fatness is having next to no legal protections for being discriminated against. anti-fatness is being denied housing, jobs, receiving less pay and promotions (legally) because of your size. anti-fatness is being denied access to clothing, seating, transportation, and other human rights because infrastructure has been designed to exclude you. anti-fatness is less likelihood of receiving a fair trial. anti-fatness is dehumanization. anti-fatness is being denied necessary surgeries, but not surgery that amputates the digestive tract with the intent to starve and shrink you (it doesn’t work either). anti-fatness is mutilation. anti-fatness is being subject to torture devices that bolt your mouth shut. anti-fatness is being told by close friends, family, and professionals that you are better off living with an eating disorder or other life-threatening illness. anti-fatness sells you starvation as a guaranteed opt-out of oppression, but doesn’t tell you that bodies will always regain weight to survive. anti-fatness blames and punishes you for failing at an achievement that is quite literally impossible. anti-fatness is a $90 billion dollar industry. anti-fatness is being denied gender-affirming care. anti-fatness is being barred from in vitro fertilization and reproductive healthcare. anti-fatness is being barred from adopting children. anti-fatness is being removed from your loving parents because they couldn’t make you thin. anti-fatness is intentionally starving your own baby so they won’t get fat. anti-fatness is disproportionately high suicide rates. anti-fatness is being killed at the hands of medical neglect and mistreatment. anti-fatness is the world preferring a dead body over a fat one.
reblogging this again because so many people still do not realize that fat liberation is deeply political. fat liberation is not body positivity. it is not about loving yourself or being non-judgemental. it is about THIS. 👆
The message we need is not "every body is beautiful" or even "love yourself" - it's not about fat people's feelings about their bodies (though it's my opinion that straight-sized people doing the work of unpacking and healing their feelings about their own bodies is an absolute necessary component of ending anti-fat prejudice).
Fat liberation is about having the right to exist, be visible, be respected, and live an enjoyable life free from discrimination and abuse. It's not a "feel-good" campaign or a consolation prize. It's basic human rights.
We are proud to announce LevelX Champions!
It's time to compete among the best that LevelX has to offer! Bring one bey from each of 5 different formats, and prepare to compete for huge prizes, and the title of Ultimate LevelX Champion!
This event will take place on October 26th.
This event is invite-only. If you reach top-cut (finals stage) of any LevelX or LevelX Sidequest Series Tournament, you are qualified to take part!
Click here to view our spreadsheet of currently qualified players!
This tournament will operate on a special, multi-format ruleset. Details are listed below.
————————————————————————
Format Structure:
Each player will arrive with five Beyblades, one from each of these existing Beyblade Formats:
Plastics
HMS
Metal Fight (WBO Limited)
Burst
X
Players begin by playing Rock, Paper, Scissors. The winner will decide if they would like to ban first, or second. The player going first will start by banning one of the 5 formats that is listed above. Then, the other player will ban one of the remaining 4 formats.
After bans are completed, the person who banned FIRST will chose what Beyblade format will be played first. After the battle is over, the loser of the round will decide which format is played next. This will go on until one player reaches 3 points. In Finals stage, matches will be played to 5 points.
In regard to points, for this event all winning finishes only result in a single point. This means things like the X-Treme finish in X format will only net the player 1 point, as opposed to 3.
Because Each generation utilizes different stadiums for their play, we will also be using a variety of stadiums, depending on the format being played. They are as follows:
Plastics / HMS : ShinTA
Metal Fight : Summit
Burst : Pro Series
X : BX-10
If a player arrives to the tournament station, and lacks a combo from a specific format, they will be given a pre-determined Bey to use for that format. There will be two copies of a pre-determined loaner Bey, for each generation so both players will always have access to a full deck.
The loaner Beys are as follows:
Plastics : Cross Fang | Eight Wide | Semi-Flat Base (Right)
HMS : Advance Attacker | Circle Heavy | Metal Flat Core
Metal Fight : Ray | Unicorno | 105 | WD
Burst : Ultimate | Valkyrie II | Legacy | Quick | 9
X : Arrow Wizard | 4-80 | Low Flat
————————————————————————
PRIZE POOL
Four different prizes will be awarded: one for 1st place, one for 2nd place, one for 3rd place, and one for 4th place. The 1st place winner getting first pick, 2nd gets second pick, then 3rd picks, and 4th gets what’s left. The prizes in the pool will be:
