While her tone was almost HARSH, and her arms WERE CROSSED, the expression she held was anything but. Besides the SQUINTED quality of her eyes, the amusement shown through clear as day.

There weren’t enough words in the English language to describe just how much Clary needed a night like this. With how everything in the world kept piling up and going wrong, with how life had turned into this giant rollercoaster of fighting evil and so often losing, there just wasn’t enough time to find peace. Yet somehow, her raven-haired friend finally found a moment like that for the two of them. Was it any surprise that would come from Isabelle? Since day one, she had this way about her that comforted Clary whenever she needed it most. She never failed to make her feel adored, safe, and like she truly belonged. 

What did come as a surprise was the quick kiss that tore her from her grateful thoughts and any intentions she had of watching the movie. But should it have been a shock? Should she have put two and two together before and realized where all of those blissful feelings came from when she was around Izzy? Probably. She was always just so caught up in herself, so oblivious to anything else... Speechless, her mouth hung open until she swallowed a lump that had grown in her throat. All she could do was stare until her mouth learned to form words again. “Um...” Deep breath, Clary. “What.. what was that for?”
