Nascence. [INTRO/OPEN]
The heat was sweltering in Hive City, and it hit Snow like a brick wall once he set out of the pristine white room. It was almost too obvious that a recording was used as an introduction video-- so clean and fresh, the scientist as peppy as ever. Probably new. Maybe just insane. So he was stuck there now, away from his current home of Yusnaan where the Chaos would continue to grow without his monitoring, and the people's only hope then would be Lightning... Lightning and her ability to save people.
He was always envious of that.
Wiping the sweat that already started to accumulate upon his upper lip, Snow continued to walk through the town and inspect it... And for something that was supposed to house thousands of test subjects it certainly looked homey enough.People walked around, running for work, chatting and laughing with friends (though some he was sure weren't even close to human), and... children. Children roamed the streets as well, giggling and enjoying the summer vacation.
Snow figured one day he could use a vacation too. Today, just wasn't that day.
But what was he to do now? Of course his goal would be to get straight back to Yusnaan, control the Chaos until he turned to a cie'th himself, but how? There were no gates to jump through hoops of time with, no cellphone to get in contact with anyone back home (when really, who did he have left? Everyone was...), and certainly no airships whizzing by with an express stop to Yusnaan.
So he would have to figure it out himself, something the blond was really quite used to doing, but without even a single starting point to go off of, the man was truly at a loss for what to do. Icy blue eyes scanned the area around with an almost dreary gaze, the once heroic spirit in the man now dimmed to a flickering candle after 500 years of constant loss and loneliness. He had succumbed to the fact that he would never be a hero, that perhaps they didn't really exist-- no... No, he knew they did.
His attention was thus caught by a childish groan, and glancing to his left his eyes were greeted with the sight of disappointed children looking down to a large puddle. The fire hydrant that they managed to unscrew had run out of pressure and the water dribbled out disappointingly, leaving them uncomfortably hot and annoyed.
The sense of incompleteness and incompetence nearly swallowed Snow whole, so if there was ever a chance for him to help, Snow snatched it up like a starved animal. Sure, he could only use his ice magic only three times a day... But perhaps that was a good thing. Certainly it would slow down the rapidly approaching end. Without as much as a flick of his finger, the water turned to smooth, crystal-like ice that poured from the slow street onto the sidewalk, a few patrons slipping a bit but regaining their balance. The children squealed in delight as they ran across it barefoot, one even laying upon the smooth surface to cool off.
Sure, it wasn't much, but it was something.
