This is a quick and tasty salad for a weeknight dinner. It has grilled flank steak marinated in sesame oil and served on a bed of fresh greens.
Ingredients: 1 lb flank steak. 1/4 cup soy sauce. 2 tablespoons sesame oil. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated. 2 tablespoons rice vinegar. 2 tablespoons honey. 6 cups mixed greens. 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved. 1/2 cucumber, thinly sliced. 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced. 2 tablespoons sesame seeds. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: To make the marinade, mix the honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and soy sauce together in a bowl. Put the flank steak in a plastic bag that can be closed again and again, and pour the marinade over it. Put the bag in the fridge for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for the best results. Warm up your grill or grill pan over high heat. Sear the steak in oil for a while, then add salt and pepper to taste. For medium-rare, grill the steak for 4 to 5 minutes on each side. You can change the cooking time to get the level of doneness you want. Take it off the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes before cutting it into thin slices. Put the mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion in a large salad bowl. Put the steak slices on top of the salad, and then sprinkle sesame seeds on top of that. Put it on the plate right away and top it with your favorite salad dressing or extra sesame oil.
