probably the first time I've ever posted any writing for our huge Homestuck AU, but it's not going to appear in the actual fic (most likely) so I'm not too concerned about spoiling anything

beware, it's like 3am and I'm on all sorts of medication for my recent acquirement of con plague so I do not expect this to be good or logical. plus, dinosaurs

here we go

As the shaking of the shop slowly comes to a halt, Dave looks like he is going to be sick.  You'd think he would be used to this bullshit by now; he's been tossed around by the damn store a few times a month for almost a year now, but his face still shifts into that most uncomfortable shade of pale-green whenever equipment starts rattling.  Having owned this fucking chore of a building for half a decade, you've become a pro at handling the random shop-quakes.  You're still standing upright while Dave struggles to pull himself back off the floor.

You don't even have the energy to be pissed off right now.  This week has been a particularly active week for both of you, what with the recent crime increase.  And of course Mister Perfect Detective has to take every case he's offered, regardless of how either of your sleep schedules are affected by said cases.  "Into what unholy timeline have we been drop-kicked this time?"

He clutches the counter closest to the door to steady himself.  "Judging by the brontosaurus grazing across what used to be our street, I'd say prehistoric times."

"I don't have the patience for this fuckery right now.  If you need me, I'll be grounding myself in the kitchen so as not to be dumped onto the street again."

"You do that.  Meanwhile, guess who's about to be the first man in history to ride a triceratops."
