Had a great time fumbling around with drawing this evening with @nighttimepatrons. Here's a little drawing of Makalaure in an aesthetic cloth covering being gracefully buffeted by the winds on the cliffs around Tirion (because he's dramatic and he knows he looks good). Inspired by Boreas, painted by John William Waterhouse.
felt like drawing tonight. spent a few hours on Nerdanel and Feanor cheering on Celegorm at a track meet, and created a new au (strictly for drawings).
The Dets:
Feanor is the son of the king (Finwe, of course) and he's never been to a track meeting before. His family isn't particularly athletic, and certainly never did competitive sports ('because it would not be fair to ask people to compete against their princes or princesses') and that's why he's less enthusiastic in the cheering than Nerdanel. He doesn't want to be recognized as the First Prince, but he didn't have time to change.
Nerdanel is a sculptor and she's had 5 kids by this point (thus the long bust, her boobs sag). some might say she's below the station of royalty but they're married now and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

the usual
Feanor was pretending to be just a common person when he snuck out and visited Nerdanel. Gave himself a vague back story and everything. But she knew who he was. She poked holes in his stories to watch him squirm and scramble for an explanation.
Turns out, being married to the First Prince does not Nerdanel a princess make.
The guards that are definitely just here for ceremonial and traditionally reasons follow her closely when she visits the palace until Feanor gets some rules changed so she can come and go as she pleases. Now, they use the guards to wrangle children during Market Day.
Feanor and Fingolfin's relationship isn't stellar and they have pulled each other's hair while fighting but at least they aren't actually at each other's throats
Finwe literally pointed at a star in the heavens and said it belongs to his first born now.
He's chill. just would prefer his children to stick to the upper tiers of society. Royalty shouldn't go traipsing through the lives of everyday people, you know. gotta stay grand and infallible as much as possible. Don't let them know we're desperately holding the kingdom together and this could all collapse into all out war that will go very poorly for us. no no, don't let them know that.
Isengard and Utumno are industrializing all over their revolution, but that's neither here not there and has no impact of the safety of our people what so ever, stop asking questions and go look at the new exotic animal display! isn't it cool?
