Ever think about the fact that Albus and Gellert both died by the Killing Curse at the tops of towers in their respective castles while asking their killers to do it?
I imagine that Gellert was initially skeptical that a proper, mainstream star student like Albus could be an interesting person, and he probably thought something like “ugh why is Aunt Bathilda making me talk to this nerd” but then after 3 minutes he was like “oh he’s a CUTE nerd.”
I wonder if Dumbledore ever reads news about badass shit Grindelwald has done like his latest prison break and thinks to himself “God that’s hot” before he catches himself.
You know how at a couple of points in the series Dumbledore is forced to leave Hogwarts because the ministry/school board kicks him out for various reasons? Imagine that happening in an AU where Gellert is there working as a professor. Imagine Lucius Malfoy or Dolores Umbridge having to face Gellert Grindelwald when they’re the reason he hasn’t been fucked in a month. The money I would pay.
Everyone on this website gets so up in arms about people liking villains meanwhile Albus Dumbledore the Champion of Wizarding England is over here basically admitting to the Ministry that he still wants to fuck Gellert Grindelwald’s brains out. What a legend.
I’m sure many of you are familiar with the poetry of John Donne (who I believe is a known literary influence on JK Rowling) but I wanted to make 100% sure everyone was aware of his famous poem ‘The Flea’ wherein a dude and the person he’s talking to have both been bitten by the same flea, and the dude tries to argue that the other person might as well have sex with him now because their two drops of blood are already mingled inside the flea and isn’t that practically the same thing, intimacy-wise?
Anyway I think about this poem every time I think about the blood pact and I wanted everyone to know that.
at intervals throughout the day I remember that Gellert not only died after Albus, but was trapped in prison for about a year unable to do anything to avenge him except lie to Voldemort when he finally showed up in a move that Gellert knew would be useless but which he did anyway because he wanted to die and moreover because he wanted to do SOMETHING to make sure the universe knew how much he loved Albus and regretted everything
I’ve always believed that ‘2007 canon’ Grindelwald loved Dumbledore in his own way and came to realize this and love him back more fully after he had had time to think about it in Nurmengard for several decades. His words to Voldemort and the exchange about it between Albus and Harry at King’s Cross were confirmation enough for me.
But it makes my heart so full to think that their love was fully mutual all along and that they got to experience that even for just one summer and that it guided both of them for the rest of their lives. Of course I think the ship was already compelling but it’s hard to describe how incredible it feels not to have to do backflips to argue that the profound love I wanted to believe was there actually was. I know some people think that this dilutes the ‘purity’ of the ship, but I’m having a hard time caring when I’ve wanted this for twelve years.
