I stopped by the stage door today (because my hope of seeing Lin will never die) and only Daveed came out, out of the ones from the original cast. He keeps being as beautiful and charming as I remember. Such a sweetheart. The crowd was much bigger than back in January and he still made his way down the line and took pictures with every one.

However, the weirdest part of the night was when we heard a commotion on the street and it turned out to be Phillipa and her boyfriend, trying to catch a cab (?), when people with cameras started mobbing them and literally had them running off. I’m still kind of confused.

I can't help side-eyeing white people (especially Spanish people and US Americans) when they have a thing for Argentina, because most of the time you just know the reason they like the country so much. And it's not the awesome quality of their red meat.

And by reason, I mean how they're white but at the same time "exotic" for being from South America and having a "cute" accent. The only reason they don't do it with Uruguay is because it's a smaller country, tbh.

Today I was wearing my Hot Space t-shirt and one of my Venezuelan professors came up to say hi. She brushed away my scarf to stare at my shirt and asks "what is this?" to which I of course happily answer "Queen!"

Turns out she thought Freddie Mercury was Maduro.

I was pretty indignant. I would never. Never. Also, what kind of insult to Freddie.

Today is Halloween here and yesterday I found a light blue exercise shirt in my closet, and following my tradition of last minute half-assing costumes, bam, I'm going to be season 1 Korra! I have furry boots, blue sweatpants, a brown sweater and I'm brown, so why not. My hair is way longer than s1 Korra but life's not perfect.

Next year's goal: actually plan my costume beforehand and be Wembley Freddie Mercury.

Roommate and I were bored and started looking up universities stats and other information. Since I almost went there, I told her to google Brigham Young University. Now we know that BYU student population is made of 55% male, 98% Mormon, and 14% minorities: 1,761 Asian/Pacific Islanders, 1,509 Hispanics, 265 Blacks, 196 American Indian and 408 other/multi-ethnicity. Let me point out that BYU doesn't tell you how many white people are there because it'd be too overwhelming (they're like 20,000 tho).

Roommate started to laugh, commenting how I'd be a sacrificial lamb there since I'm a minority in basically every possible way (brown, international, female and non-straight). My university is not the most diverse out there, but rip BYU and its dress code. 

Ngl, anytime I feel like criticizing Ohio, I think "well, I could have ended up in Utah." BYU does have a really good undergrad Spanish translation program though and it's pretty affordable, especially if you convert to Mormonism...  But lol no.

I've been living in small Midwest town, US, for three years, speaking English almost every day, mostly hanging out with non-Spanish speakers and yet I cannot learn how to pronounce "yes." I quit.

Omg my Justice professor just said the US is unique because it doesn't identify with a religion unlike most countries (???)

I just came to the conclusion that in order to fully understand the characters of Glee and their motivations (shh let's pretend this is season 1 where they were characters and actually had motivations) you need to live in Ohio. Small-town Ohio. No wonder Finn was scared of being a "Lima loser."

Suggestion: don't watch Glee and don't live in Ohio.
