i swear the company i work at don’t have braincells. i was told that they let someone come in after they vomit in front of the store with no mask. Shopping with vomit on their shirt like nothing is wrong. i am sorry but we are in pandemic. we don’t know if they have it or not. its a hazard for employees and customers who are shopping in our store safely.
Getting a little miffed that people list those on the "front lines" and leave out grocery workers. Yeaj, it's a self-serving kind of miffed. Whatever. I go to work and literally risk my life so people can have bread.
No, I'm not saving lives like nurses and doctors. No, I'm not educating children. But I've been at this since the beginning of the plague and I'll be at it until I'm vaccinated or until one of my customers gives the sickness to me and I'll be at it after that, too.
Funny how we were lauded as essential when everyone was worried about over-stocking their pantries and now we're back to being invisible and dispensable.
Shout out to truckers and postal workers, too. I don't see you recognized enough, either.
Please stop treating grocery store employees like we’re heroes. We’re not being given a choice. We’re being forced to work and put our lives on the line because we don’t have the option to stay home. Our jobs can’t be done from home and we’re not rich enough to not work.
Meanwhile we’re not being given the proper equipment and what we do have we have to buy for ourselves...if it’s even available to buy. Some businesses aren’t even paying their workers extra for the time and risk.
Stop glorifying what this is. If you think any of us want to die for this....you’re fucking wrong.
Now if they said “Everyone who chooses to work gets paid double and everyone who chooses to self isolate only gets paid their standard week while they’re at home.” THEN you can say we’re heroes when we choose to clock in. Right now. We’re not Heroes.
We’re unwilling Martyrs. Sacrifices. So life the way everyone is used to can try and continue.
and it’s bullshit.
Gotta say, as a person with chronic pain and fatigue, the grocery industry is not the place to be right now. I’m kinda hating my life as a grocery store employee.
What if we kissed 😳🤭 in the empty toilet paper isle??? 🙈 (Me @ my cute co-worker who spoke to me 4 times and helped me carry something once. He's an absolute ray of sunshine I live for the moments that I can see him. He also might be like 20 years old but I'm hoping he's younger so he's closer to my age.)
What if we made out 😅🙊 in the cold as balls meat freezer? 😮 (Me @ the cute guy in the meat department who's definitely close to my age and also super nice.)
