It does kind of boil down to the fact that they're my two favs. 😔
Even more embarrassingly, I relate heavily to Drury and I am in love with Jonathan, so.
That being said, it mostly started out as me entertaining the idea because of that, but the more I thought about it the more I realized it just... clicked and made sense even going off canon iterations.
What are your favorite things about the ship?
The narrative parallels. OTL
The fact that such a heavy theme for both characters is that they both faced ridicule, and it's something they desperately try to fight against, trying to be seen by others as they want to be seen. Which, for both of them, means being feared.
But Jonathan is WAAAYYY more successful at that than Drury is, and thinking about him seeing this poor pathetic man who wants so desperately to be feared by others... Who he recognizes is very similar to him, even if he would hate to admit it. The reluctantly falling for him on accident and struggling because Jonathan has SO many emotional and trust issues, even thinking of tackling a relationship is SO difficult for him.
I love them seeing themselves in one another, and them struggling with it and navigating their feelings, after both living such difficult lives. There is SOOOO much tasty story potential with them imo...
Also the comedy aspect of it like Jonathan being Kitten's potential step-dad and the fact that they're both absolute weirdos. T4T Autism Kings.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Um. I invented it and only like 4 other people ship it probably. There is nothing for me to have an unpopular opinion on.
