Like for Baelor I don't exactly see it beginning with such immediate and obviously bad intentions. With Maekar it begins as a vice grip around you and only gets worse. And as far as vibes, even if he started to get worse about it, I think he'd swallow it back pretty resolutely. I think the problem with dust and fern (from my own judgement of the fandom discussion and the books) is that dust was ferns MENTOR. he had a lot of access to her and power over her. she also got pregnant almost immediately after she was made a warrior with dustpelts kits which is also weird!! also dont forget that dustpelt is mean to literally everyone but ferncloud since shes made his apprentice, which is a cute dynamic when it doesnt involve the age gap and power dynamic. thats also. weird. hot take but maybe if an adult is really awful to everyone but a you as a minor, butters you up and treats you better than literally everyone else, you should run. just a thought.

the other gaps are also weird, don't get me wrong, but dustpelt and ferncloud stand out in this regard because well. the circumstances. if ferncloud were a warrior when she and dustpelt were courting each other and dustpelt wasnt her mentor it wouldnt be an issue, but because of the added context of what i mentioned before... the implications dont feel right. and it isnt right. just because there are worse relationships doesnt mean this one isnt weird either.

I mean this in the coldest, creepiest most “more suited to a grimdark medieval arranged marriage au” type way but it would be very tasty if Dr Kogami did approve of Spectre and his son having romantic feelings for each other. Because surely in Dr Kogami’s eyes, Spectre has to be the perfect specimen?
