Words of affirmation and acts of service, as befitting of a priest. Regardless if with a romantic partner, a pupil, a friend, or some other person in the community, and even complete strangers--Nils will express his love for them through helping others, making sure they're okay, and just appreciating them. They often take the form of numerous small gestures, like making sure you've eaten your breakfast, asking how your studying is going, and if you'd like to see this pretty flower he happened to pass by.
The gestures are always kept small as to avoid drawing attention to his love language. As much as possible, Nils tries to disguise his love as simple kindness from a priest. But in reality, he's trying to find joy in his miserable life by ensuring others are able to get through their day. Therefore, the other person's joy can be lived by Nils vicariously.

The pain of betraying others who trusted him, and knowing full well he hurt his closest friends in ways they could not heal from.
Nils' acts of kindness and love are neither facades nor charades; they are all genuine. It could have been easier to be a jerk and force everyone to hate him on principle so they won't get close. But Nils doesn't have the heart to act so unkind in a world broken by hatred.
So when the inevitable happened--Nils killing the God of Life and further Breaking the World by halting the Cycle of Life, thereby introducing Undeath--the pain was afflicted. He knows the World won't heal from that... and for this reason, he refuses to either.
Even if the story my RP partners' dictate that Ga'bi is purged, Nils is safe and alive and free, Nils will NOT just go home and live peacefully from then on. Besides actual crimes he must be tried for, Nils will never overcome how he allowed himself to be a tool of evil in a misguided attempt to stop it himself. And it will follow him for the rest of his life.

Any time he witnesses or is asked to perform child grooming and endangerment. Abuse, etc., are a gimme, but grooming and endangerment is very particular with Nils. And when I say 'grooming', I don't just mean sexual exploitation (though there is that too).
As much as having child soldiers is normalized in Himmelia society, Nils always hated it from Day 1 as a young cadet. It's one thing to teach a kid child safety and what emergency procedures to take in the event of an attack, but it's another to teach them constant hypervigilance and readiness/mastery of killing. Yet Nils will never get over how he is forced to comply with his society's normalization of morbid violence and warfare on children when they ought to be learning how to read, cite their alphabets, and dream of candied castles in the sky.
So upon witnessing other adults be really irresponsible with children, teach them unscrupulous behavior like crime or bullying, making them dress inappropriately, GIVING THEM SMOKO, or just generally forcing them to "be the adult" in a home situation, you will probably find a particular kind of wrath Nils never displays anywhere else. He stops being this tender and passive person and will willingly and unapologetically become protective to the point of violence.
