Anybody else thinking about doing National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) this year in November? I was on the fence up until last month and decided to pull the trigger. This will be my fourth time (2012 successfully, 2013, and 2016). Been working on outlining my novella early to not end up scrambling at the last second like last year.

I hope to get a nice sized support group on here to keep us all motivated as we tackle it.

PSA for Overwatch Players

Especially those in low ranks.

8 times outta 10 the reason you are losing is because your team is staggering. What is staggering? Its when one or two people try to take the point by themselves, die, then the rest of the team does the same thing. Over and over and over again.  This is bad.  Its easiest to take on a team, especially on control points, 6v6.  When the team is staggered, these fights become 5v6, 4v6, or even 3v6.  While occasionally you get lucky and somehow take the point like that, its more difficult, and it usually takes more ult economy. Better idea: Group up for pushes.  Wait for all six of your team members to be in one place before you try to take the point.  Even if you are trying to be sneaky, its better for the other five people to go in before you start taking shots into their back line. GROUPING UP FOR PUSHES IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN TEAM COMPOSITION-esp if your rank is lower than Platinum. 

I played a game on Volskaya tonight.  Enemy team had a from the book offense and defense. 2 heals. 2 tanks. 2 dps. My team had a Symettra, Mercy, Zen, Torb, Hanzo, and Widow on defense.  We held first point till the last 30 seconds.  On second point, someone on my team switched to Winston.  The enemy team only got one tick on the second point-even with the 2-2-2 thing. Next round, our comp is a bit more textbook-2 heal, 3 dps, 1 tank.  Enemy team is still fighting 2-2-2.  We crushed them. Long story short: The meta does not matter in low ranks.  Play what you want. Get the kills.  Fill if you feel like you need to. Don’t complain about the team composition if you aren’t willing to do anything about it.
