Finally the exams for the twins end today - we can finally play boardgames without guilt! This was more than a week ago. Big bro was at a church camp, and we were out half the day for Ash's best friend's birthday party. We took a nap after coming home, and woke up to Shn saying:" Can you guys wake up so we can play Charterstone, please?!" We did promise her we'd play it after our nap, and so we decided to start a game at about 6pm, as we were all not hungry yet. Also, Shn has a history of NOT wanting to play this game (as she hardly won the game), so we were inclined to oblige her. She surprised us all! She could recall all the obscure rules and promptly reminded us of them throughout the game. She employed different strategies and tactics in order to earn money and convert it to points. She did not cry nor throw any tantrums when she her plans were thwarted by others. And she won by a hair's breadth! Well played, lil miss! So, we started having a score book to record all the scores of the games that we play coz I thought it'd be fun to record our gameplay so we could analyse the results to see how we can improve. Also, we can see how the kids better their scores over each game, over time. However, the kids just enjoy having the record to show them as winners 😆. Traditionally, I'd been the score recorder but of late, Shawna has eagerly volunteered herself for the job. I'd had to battle myself internally over wanting to have perfectly (in my opinion) tabled scores if I do it myself, versus letting Shawna do it and have some math practice in the process. Math won out! Today I get some time alone with Mr A! We rode the cafe's free Wi-Fi to watch an instructional video on Hive and learnt it together. He promptly proceeded to win me in the game with a surprise move, even though I tried very hard to beat him! We had a nice cosy Children's Day indoors today. We played board games and read books the entire day - I did not nag the kids to do any homework or any sort of work at all! 😂😂😂 We started off by playing a game which I have had for a long time but have yet to play - Sorry Sliders!
