When Dr. Hikari Sr. died, Wily attended his funeral in secret. He was still bitter over being overshadowed. He tells himself that it was to send a farewell to his hateful opponent, but he still had enough good in him to mourn his old friend and at least attempt to comfort his greiving son at this point in time.
Wily: … You’re Dr. Hikari’s boy?
Wily: I bet all these people have already told you how he was a great man. How there never will be another of him. On how he will live on in every megabyte in his precious internet. *scoffs* As if they understood him.
Wily: …A while back a certain genius dreamed about making heroes. Machines that would protect humanity from all sorts of threats. Do you know what Dr. hikari said to this man?
“People can be their own heroes. Everyone has the capacity to help each other. One day i’m going to make something that would let anyone help everyone.”
Yuichiro: *smiles* yeah… sounds like dad.
Wily: *scowls and grips at his cane* He doesn’t just live in the internet, boy. He lives in the hearts of everyone who’s willing to help a person. I see him in every single one of these people. You especially. Your desire to keep the internet going isn’t just to preserve your father’s legacy. But to continue helping as he always had.
Yuichiro: *looks confused at the man’s anger. And now that he takes a closer look, he’s never seen this man in his father’s office. Or in any of the other businesses Dr. Hikari Sr. worked with.* …Who are you?
Wily:… No one who matters. Not yet. But one day, the whole World will know my name.
Oooh interesting scenario. I like it! I also like the quote from Tadashi. It’s been a long hot minute so I can’t recall if that’s from the game or if you made that up on the spot, but regardless it really embodies Lan to a T
I imagine that Lan’s willingness to help others despite everything reminds Yuichiro a lot of his father and it makes him really fond of his son (or like more than normal since he’s Lan’s dad lmao)
Also imagine this during BN6 after Lan saves Wily
Wily: You’re a foolish child. Why would you attempt to save a hateful man like me?
Lan: Because it’s the right thing to do. People have the capacity to help others, so why wouldn’t I? You can change too and help others for the better, I know it! And grandpa knew it too!
Wily: …heh. Foolish, the both of you…
