i'd love to know more about ur pet rove beetle :o
I've had them about a month now, just caught them outside where I live actually! Huge, beautiful devil's coach horse beetle--so, I named them Cinderella. I don't have any photos of mine, but they look like this:
They really move and act like little foxes, with the long swishy "tails" and the way they stand upright on their legs instead of having them bow out like a lot of beetles. They're even foxlike in the way they grab prey by the back of the neck, and do their best to sever the nerve cord and stop its movements before eating! (Conversely, the mantises, tarantula, and scorpion all just sort of hold their prey in place and start eating wherever.)
frank, whats your favorite animal? could you draw me a meme with them in it? :o
Yeah I can draw a lot of animals at once (although they all look the same to me)
Favorite animal is probably something like panda or gorilla, but it is so difficult to choose favorites. If it's an animal with a single image or something, I tend to go with that one, but if it's a wild animal or some sort of composite animal like a whale then it's too hard to pick just one (and in any case there's probably a better choice). I'm always kind of torn between the "cute and photogenic" animals like pandas and koalas, and the "cool" animals like sharks and snakes and wolves.
So, I'll just do an attempt at a list of my favorite wild animals, in no particular order:
spinosaurus dinosaurus
pug (yes I'm aware it is a dog, and also one of my favorite species)
camelopardalis
hippopotamus
spiny rat snake
the "real" pug
striped hyrax
pygmy shrew
nematode
giant armadillo
leopard seal
steller's sea cow
koala
prairie wolf
bison
giant anteater
flamingo
mole shrew
scorpionfish
leopard (a.k.a. "big cat")
chimpanzee
polar bear
hognose snake
big blue heron
giant king prawn
dolphins
great blue heron
bronze bustard
eastern box turtle
virginia opossum
spiny tailed gecko
solitary crested myna
cave salamander
marsupial tiger salamander
vampire squid
northern sea otter
eastern hognose snake
hi there!!! i've got two cats that will be 3 years old in may. they're both super cute & healthy!!! i haven't really thought about dental stuff with them yet but i have been having them remind me to brush my OWN teeth (scheduled treat time in the bathroom! they come and get me.). i thought itd be a good idea to get into a routine with them!
my question is method. because i have the teeth routine for me already scheduled with a treat, switching that one to a cat dental treat seems really obvious. are cat dental treats good? do they work? or do you recommend i manually brush their teeth? thank you so much!
Hey! Sorry it took so long to answer :[
Getting your cats to help remind you to do self-care is pretty ingenious!
The "gold standard" is daily toothbrushing because the mechanical action of brushing with a kitty toothpaste is by far the best for removing the tartar. Here's a good how-to for brushing cat teeth:
We all know that brushing your cat’s teeth is crucial to their overall health. Ready to try? Here’s how to brush your cat’s teeth in just 30
Remember to take each step slowly, and keep training sessions short and positive.
But because cats are cats, some still won't accept brushing (and some owners are unable to do daily brushing, for a variety of reasons because life isn't ideal sometimes), and for those kitties, dental treats, foods, etc. may be beneficial. While they aren't as good as brushing, they're still better than doing nothing. The Veterinary Oral Health Council have a list of endorsed products that they update fairly regularly:
Veterinary Oral Health Council Reviews Products that Stop Plaque and Tartar Buildup in Dogs and Cats
Good luck with whichever methods of oral care work best for you and your kitties!
