YOUR FRIEND  “Gumption” [Album Stream]

Taryn Miller aka Your Friend will release her debut LP,“Gumption”, at the end of the week via Domino. Recorded with producer Nicolas Vernhes (The War on Drugs, Deerhunter) at the Rare Book Room in Brooklyn, “Gumption” entwines elements both electronic and melodic with Miller’s vocals floating over layers of drones, loops and echoing guitars. “I paid attention to textures,” Miller says. “I was trying to remove myself from an approach that I had followed before, but to be able to bring in that melodic element that is most inherent to me, and marry it with a more sonically meditative landscape”. The resulting sound lies somewhere between Radiohead (Kid A period), early Lower Dens and Grouper. Listen below [via Stereogum]:
