Mirror images of each other, staring into terror-filled eyes, clutching each other with blood-stained hands.
JOEL MILLER PICKING UP BRICKS AND KICKING BOXES | 10 HOURS | ASMR
Crack fic where Joel eats bricks
Tommy really just seems like he doesn't care about Joel like, Joel trekked across the country because he was worried Tommy was hurt, and in return Tommy is mad at him?
Not to mention the fact that Joel so clearly carries all the weight of the world on his shoulders. He's been at his breaking point for years and it's a miracle he hasn't cracked yet. ("All I've ever done is fail her." "That's why you left me, right? To make up for the things we did.") He begs Tommy to help Ellie, he shows so clearly the insecurities AND the care he has for others.
And instead of helping him, Tommy just blames him for grieving and being in pain. Tommy just sits there, and gives him a backhanded apology.
Comparing episode 8 Joel's violence to episode 9 Joel's violence is. ugh.
E8 Joel is hurt, delirious, scared, desperate. He doesn't know who these men are or where Ellie is.
E9 Joel is calculated, collected, focused. He knows exactly what is going on and who he'll have to fight to get there.
I think one of the big things that irritates me about the whole Tommy-Joel thing is that Tommy seems to take Joel's anger as a personal slight against him for being happy, rather than irritation at not being communicated with.
Like, I think Tommy takes Joel being rude about him being married and having a kid as Joel being upset that he has a new family and is happy, when in reality Joel is maybe surprised, but that's not the root of his anger. His anger lies in the fact that he thought Tommy might've been dead when he was fine the whole time. His anger lies in the fact that while he was fending for his life and worried about his brother, Tommy was perfectly okay and he couldn't even be bothered to send Joel a message that he was alright.
