Buck had no choice but to wait for his father to return from the date. Having to sit there and postpone the difficult talk was a nightmare, but Xias was relieved he will no longer have to hide from the Grunts.
He agreed to go steady with Buck, especially since they were about to raise a child together anyway.
Buck's plans of carefully approaching his father were interrupted, when he found out he's actually pregnant. They completely forgot about aliens being able to reproduce with no restrictions.
Now they were both sure Buzz will kill them and blow the lab up when he finds out. He might've been weak to Buck's big blue eyes for most of his life, but no way he'd accept having his son impregnated by an alien.
With all the money Buzz had saved up and Opal's healthy recommendations for swimming, the Grunts got their own pool. Maybe to rub it in the faces of Smiths, who used to be the only family in Strangetown with it. Buzz was feeling particularly bold and despite the cold early-winter weather, he decided to take a dip in the water and try it out.
He picked the wrong time for that, as Opal just returned from work and witnessed her husband's shenanigans. She made sure to scold him properly and remind him, that he's not a young man anymore.
Grumbling and muttering under his breath, Buzz marched inside and took a long, hot bath to warm himself up. All his life he was the scary general, but wouldn't dare standing up to his tough doctor wife.
This time Opal stepped in and when the two were out of earshot, she went ballistic on Buzz for pushing another son away from himself. She might've been angry at Rick, but she missed him greatly and couldn't believe her husband was willing to lose Buck over prejudice.
Buzz tried to explain to her why aliens have been a problem in Stangetown for decades and why he joined the army to protect the town from green people taking over, but she was not having any of it. If he was able to move on from his hate towards the Smiths, he should be able to accept Buck's boyfriend as well.
If there was anything Buzz was helpless against, it was angry women and Opal was able to turn this retired military man into a mouse. She warned her husband he will end up all alone if he doesn't stop harassing everyone around him.
Opal: You will be a grandpa again, for Watcher's sake! And you will love the baby - green or not!
Buzz: But-
Opal: You WILL apologize to the boys and make sure they stay here! Is that clear?
Buzz: Yes, ma'am...
Buck finally approached his father after the pair returned home. Needless to say, Buzz was NOT happy with the revelation. He grew to accept all of his sons being into men, but alien?? And pregnancy?? Under his roof??
Xias rushed in, hoping he could persuade old Buzz to accept him and to defend Buck. Seeing him only made the old general more furious. Not in million years would he expect a green guy living on his property like a mole person hiding in the walls. And seducing his youngest son on top of that.
He nearly hurled at the thought of Buck being in love with the alien, but hearing the two agree to leave was even worse. He couldn't believe his boy would be willing to throw everything away just to have a weird family with Xias.
Maybe he was losing his grip from retirement or loneliness was hitting him hard, but Buzz was feeling particularly sentimental that day. He gave Tank a heartfelt speech about how proud he was of him and his life choices, even if he never really said it before.
Tank believed he didn't need his father's appreciation anymore, but it felt really good to finally hear it after years of trying to impress him. Maybe marriage and age really helped Buzz realize some things after all.
Opal was out of the loop with the Strangetown's history and local drama. When she had the opportunity to befriend one of the best surgeons and medical researches in town, she didn't see a reason not to do that. It's always good to have friends in high places, but Buzz did not seem supportive of that friendship at all.
Buck continued working on his lifetime goal of discovering new stars and planets. Just tried to be careful not to catch the attention of any alien ships passing by. He was happy with just the one he had in his home, but probing trips were not his favourite.
The rest of the Sunday was quiet and when the elders rested in front of TV, Xias spent the rest of the evening finishing up the car for sale. He still thought Buzz was an asshole, but couldn't help appreciating his help with the car's body.
Buck rested with sleeping Aurora and studied the parenting textbook to make sure he takes care of her properly.
The week at the Grunt's comes to an end and next round (before which I might take a really short sickness break due to a nasty infection) will move over to the Grunt-Summerdream household next door.
