Had a few ask what the GSDCA Temperament Test title consists of and how it differs from a CGC. The TT is also the same as the Doberman Working Aptitude Evaluation. Here were the steps and Rogue's reactions (her test was considered the most correct of those being evaluated that day): Neutral stranger: ignored. Stranger ignores dog. Friendly stranger: wagged at, accepted petting. Stranger asked to pet, hugged me. Rattle can: Sudden shaking of a van filled with kibble. Rogue investigated, no startled reaction. Gun shot: gun fired behind us, I jumped, Rogue turned (not startled) and walked toward shooter. Umbrella: umbrella opened toward us as we approached stranger. Rogue jumped back slightly, then trotted forward and gnawed on umbrella. Strange footing: walked over unfolded xpen and tarp. No hesitation. Aggressive stranger: caped stranger waving cane yells at us. Rogue watches. Stranger shouts and runs toward us. Rogue lunges forward barking. In this test, the dogs MUST have a reaction or it is a failed test. The handler can issue no commands at all but can talk to the dog. Slight startling is fine as long as they recover quickly and fully. The dog moving behind the handler during gunshot, umbrella, can rattle, or stranger portions is failing - even if it is circling the handler. Lunging and barking is only permitted (and expected) when the aggressive stranger moves toward the handler.
