Please Help 

So this is a continuation of the last one (which I closed because it wasn’t Showing the IMPORTANT updates it needed to)

I have had this ready for 2 weeks now and haven’t posted it here because… I literally got yelled at by family for sharing my problems with the world. 

(she apologized later but now I’ve been scared to do this. But if i’d literally not been raised to ‘not share my problems’ or ‘ask for help’ in the first place, then all of this, and the amounts i need now, could have been avoided.)

But honestly, things aren’t getting better and I don’t know what to do. Because now on top of the car issue, I have medical bills too. 

I still have a car that was quoted for 6k in repairs. I’ve done the bare minimum to keep it running thanks to the last fundraiser in hopes that i can get enough to buy my friends car with this one.

(The car he’s selling to me under blue book value and is PRACTICALLY brand new - i test drove it. it’s got 18ooo miles. it’s beautiful and best of all - i know it’s trustworthy because HE is trustworthy)

I want to thank EVERYONE who graciously donated to the last fundraiser. there wasn’t a lot of donaters but some of you really, really did a lot more than i expected and I really really appreciate it.

Well…….I hope that if you like Greyhounds that you choose to buy one soon, because the breed as we know it is soon to be only in history.

Tonight Florida voted to prevent an entire breed of dog from doing the one thing that makes their blood sing. The one thing that inherently brings them joy. The one thing that speaks to the genes that they carry forward with them from ancestors long since passed.

Tonight Florida voted to ban Greyhound racing. 13 of the 18 tracks in the US are in Florida. This will effectively eliminate the industry.

An estimated 8,000 dogs are going to be in need of new homes. Hundreds of generations of careful breeding dedicated to genetic diversity and creating a pinnacle athlete have now been marked for extinction by mobs of ignorant people that don’t have any idea what they just voted for. These dogs will be sold through rescue, and they will be altered. The Greyhounds that will be available in the future will be produced with a very different end goal in mind. This is the end of the NGA Greyhound. That dog that so many of us recognize as being excellent family pets, stunning athletes, and beautiful animals that are reliably stable in temperament and notoriously easy to live with. If they were so horribly abused at the track, why are so many of them so well adjusted in their life post racing?

My heart hurts.

This is a dark day for Greyhounds. This is a dark day for dogs…..and the people who really love them. :-(

This was going to be a Castiel post, but Rogue decided to creep in too.

Cas started agility last week and did really well; our instructor was very encouraging for us to work towards trialing, so we will probably switch our focus from IPO to agility for a while until we can find a regular club again.

He’s finally starting to look like an adult and finally learned to bark on command (bark and hold was more of a bounce and hold). I’m liking how his drives are developing and how his intensity is going up, but he’s still able to chill on the couch with me and watch tv.

Also, Rogue likes boxes.

The Hellbeast was back on duty this past weekend for Megafest! Friday night we had dinner and singing with Nicky and then Saturday we went out to the con. Rogue refused to poop all day and there is not much more annoying with a SD than a picky pooper! Rogue and I got to meet the amazing Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia - BtVS/AtS, Maggie Stark - SPN) and we talked for a while about dog training (which seems to be the topic wherever I go). We were also able to say hi to James Marsters (Spike - BtVS, Don Stark - SPN) and Rogue was HIGHLY displeased when he came up. She immediately moved to block Nicky and me and stared James down. They did eventually become friends, James was super busy.

Rogue continued to alert to both me and Nicky and took breaks to say hi to T, Charisma, and her Auntie Bonnie and Uncle Kris. She tired a little faster than usual but she’s had the past three weeks off for her surgery, so I let her take it easy. She was very interested in the roaring stuffed dinosaurs at the Jurassic Park booth and met a Deadpool riding an inflatable unicorn. Overall, a very fun weekend!

She says thank you! Her incision is healing nicely (her and Castiel have to be wearing cones because they’ll BOTH dig at it) and she is very bored and wants to get back to work!
