Spiral Jetty
This is an image of Robert Smithson’s famous earth work, Spiral Jetty.
I try to hit this fabulous locale whenever I visit the Golden Spike National Historic Site, Promontory Summit, Utah. On the shore of the Great Salt Lake, this spot is just under sixteen miles from the GSNHS. It is well worth the drive: I’ve never been to a more quiet and uniquely beautiful place on earth. That’s not ice or snow you see close to the shore, but dried salt.
