Slow cooking allows the flavors to meld together, resulting in a dish that's both sweet and spicy, with a hint of tanginess from the guava. Perfect for a delicious appetizer or main course!
Ingredients: 2 lbs pork belly, cut into bite-sized pieces. 1 cup guava jelly or guava paste. 1/4 cup soy sauce. 1/4 cup honey. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 tsp ginger, grated. 1 tsp chili flakes. 1/2 tsp black pepper. 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar. 1 tbsp cornstarch. 1/4 cup water. Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish.
Instructions: In a bowl, mix together guava jelly, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, chili flakes, black pepper, and apple cider vinegar to make the hot sauce. Place pork belly pieces in a slow cooker. Pour the guava hot sauce over the pork belly, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or until pork belly is tender and caramelized. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Pour the slurry into the slow cooker during the last 30 minutes of cooking to thicken the sauce. Once cooked, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish. Serve hot and enjoy!
