Okay so I'm v sorry that you hurt yourself and hope you feel better, but I've never in my life heard of the word/phrase "gubbed" (autocorrect won't even let me type it lol) and I am Highly Amused TM where on earth did you hear that phrase?!
Aha, thanks! Gubbed is categorically Scots vernacular, like it’s a proper word and all, we use it quite a lot (particularly in the region where I live!) Apparently it originally comes from ‘gub’ which means mouth, so gubbing someone was basically shutting them up (generally done by punching someone in the mouth).. But as all words do, it’s kinda evolved to mean like broken, jiggered, bust... that sort of meaning... So me saying my leg’s gubbed, it’s like it’s knackered!
(p.s. I often forget that lots of words I use in general conversation are Scots and therefore no one else understands/has heard of them, sorry about that!)
