Guerrilla Gardening

In recent months, city centres have faced a crisis of unprecedented underuse, yet the shoots of perseverance sustain. With trowel as political tool, clandestine gardeners reclaim the roadside verges of urban existence, planting hope between the concrete.

Through these legally-grey acts of green-fingered subversion, new purpose is brought to once-barren soil. To bring beauty to civic blight, and to grow food for all.

Lacking the yields of aggressive agriculture, this may be more symbolic than a sustainable solution to want. Perhaps it may not work everywhere, but it serves as reminder that the land does not belong to ambivalent town planners or cynical property speculators.

Rather, the land belongs to those with a will to work it.
