You often say that biographers know much more than they can say and that they often hint at it. I just saw your compilation of Bob Spitz quotes and I was shocked at the way he talks about John and Paul!! What other biographers do this?

“I’m home.”

I always get a little nervous when I say these words after I come back home.

I used to worry my parents would come out from inside the house and say something–

And now, I worry what my little brother, an elementary school student who is probably waiting in here… might think.

My house is a strange one.

If I had to put it bluntly, I’d even say it’s abnormal.

I hear the sound of an electronic device coming from the end of the hallway.

That alone tells me that my little brother is the only one in the house.

If our parents were here, he absolutely wouldn’t have come out of his room.

When I looked down at the floor, I saw my brother’s sneakers in the same place I had seen them in the morning when I left for school.

… Looks like Taiki didn’t go to school today either after all.

I felt a little disappointed as I realized that.

No. I had decided to treat him as normal as possible, whether he went to school or didn’t.

… Although I’m not so sure if that’s the right choice to make.

When I entered the living room, I found my brother sprawled out on the sofa, playing on the SNES.

His pajamas were scattered all over the place, along with packets of snacks and instant noodle containers.

Even in this state, our parents wouldn’t even spare a glance at Taiki.

As usual, there’s a 5000 yen bill on the dining table.

Our parents will probably be late again because of a religious gathering. I don’t really know much, but it seems they’re high-ranking members.

“Taiki, what do you want for dinner?”

“Pizza. The usual.”

Taiki answered my question without even looking at me.

The usual would be teriyaki chicken and mentaiko mochi.

I called the pizza place from the home landline and placed the order.

I call them so often that I registered their number as an abbreviated number.

2 is the pizza shop, 3 is the ramen shop, 4 is the soba shop…

I sat on the sofa and made sure to avoid Taiki’s legs, my brother sat up and silently handed me the other controller.

“I wanna play Spitz.”

“I don’t wanna play that with you, you’ll beat me to shreds. Let’s keep playing Poyo Poyo.” He said with no hesitation, so I followed his lead and we started a battle.

For a while, we were both silent, and the only sounds in the room were the sound of slimy characters bouncing and the flashy sound effects of combo attacks.

But I always worry at times like this. Would it be better if I talked to him?

Should I tell him that he should go to school? Or do I want him to tell me something like, “Nii-chan, you should've come back home earlier”?

— It’s been two weeks since Taiki stopped going to school.

I’ve been living my life as normal, but I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

Moreover, I haven’t been able to consult anyone about this. Not even Goz.

“... Did they say anything today?” I couldn’t think of anything else to say, so I asked him that.

“They probably just prayed today too,” was his cold reply, “I don’t think you noticed because you were sleeping, but they were out of their minds when they left this morning. They were saying something about the coming of the end.”

"Oh... Because of King Anglomois's prophecy, I guess."

The world will end on the seventh month of 1999.

They say that's according to a great prophet from ages ago. That prophet is Anglomois, and the prophecy is called The Prophecy of the Great King of Terror.

Because of that, our parents have become more and more fanatic lately.

There are also a lot of TV specials on prophecies that seem to be indoctrinating people into taking them seriously.

Goz, simple-minded as he is, got a bit scared.

But I'm more scared of my parents, who believe in these prophecies and have been losing their minds every day, than I am of the world's end itself.

Ever since  1999 started, they have been saying things like this:

"Tao must be the only one allowed on the Ark."

"Tao is God's child, after all. The chosen one must survive."

... Taiki is usually nearby whenever my parents say crazy things like that.

And every time I think to myself and question their nerve, "How can they say that? I'm not their only child.  Have they really forgotten about Taiki?"

" ... You know the bankbook grandma left behind? I saw mother take it yesterday. That's bad, right. She probably donated the whole amount."

I froze after hearing what Taiki said.

Our grandmother who passed away a few years ago was a decent person. She left the bankbook to our parents on her deathbed and told them, "Use it on Tao and Taiki's education, okay?", I know this, because I saw the conversation happen in real time.

" ... They even put their hands on grandma's bankbook?"

A dry laugh came out of me before I could stop it.

"It's unfair that children can't choose their parents."

"..."

Taiki pouted, but I couldn't say anything back.

On the TV screen, cute, colorful slimes stuck to each other and popped.

"... I can't imagine myself going to high school or anything like that." Taiki whispered.

"High school's... fun."

"Maybe for you, Tao-nii."

"If I fail the entrance exams, I probably won't be accepted." Taiki continued, and I had nothing to say back. I did think that was the case, too.

It makes me frustrated beyond what words can describe.

"Once I graduate middle school, I'm gonna work and save up money. Then I'll start a company that distributes news on the internet. I'll expose everything our parents and their cult has done."

"You need to go to high school to start a company."

"I'll make money by playing games instead of studying."

"There's no job like that. If there was, I'd be doing it."

"You'd be making millions, Tao-nii."

For the first time in a while, Taiki laughed innocently.

As I felt joy and relief, Taiki dropped his controller.

Then, he groaned and clutched his stomach.

"Taiki!"

I dropped my controller and put my arm around Taiki's shoulder.

My little brother's thin body shook, and he was drenched in sweat.

"Does it hurt? Where? Your stomach?"

"... I don't know, everywhere... Like usual, I think."

When I put my hand on his back to soothe him, I could feel his heart beating rapidly through the skin where his spine was exposed.

I quickly picked him up and carried him to his bed.

This is making my head hurt. This isn't the first time it's happened to him.

It happens several times a month, sometimes more than once a week.

I was worried, so I took him to a doctor, but they told me the cause was unknown. The tests were also inconclusive.

Later, they told me it was a psychosomatic illness.

Basically, it was stress.

Every time this happens, Taiki gets a fever. This time was no different.

I tried looking for an antipyretic, but it seems the one we used last time was the last one. I was at my wit's end, and wondered whether I should go out to buy some.

But when I went to Taiki's bedside and placed my hand on his burning forehead, he grabbed the hem of my shirt without saying anything.

Seeing my little brother like that, in pain and with tears in his eyes, I couldn't bring myself to tell him I'm leaving to get some medication.

I started to become aware of my powerlessness.

... Why does Taiki have to go through this?

It'd be better if I was the one ignored by our parents.

If it was me, he wouldn't have to endure this pain.

... I'm cold-hearted. Because of that, I gave up on our parents a long time ago. I don't get so stressed that it'd show on my body...

But I can only say that because, no matter how twisted, I'm "loved" by them. I'll probably never understand how Taiki, whose existence was ignored ever since he was born, truly feels.

"Nii-chan's gonna prepare an ice pack." I said and left Taiki's side. I could tell he was watching me leave with anxious eyes.

I went down to the kitchen on the first floor and put ice in a plastic bag. My heart ached with frustration.

Right then, I heard my phone's carefree ringtone.

"...  Sorry for making you go out of your way to buy medicine. You're a huge help."

I opened the front door and bowed my head.

The call was from Goz. He just wanted to talk about tomorrow's classes and other mundane things.

He noticed I sounded gloomy and asked me what's wrong, so despite hesitating, I managed to ask him to buy some medicine for Taiki.

"C'mon, it's fine. ... Is your little brother okay?"

"It happens all the time... I gave him the medicine just now, so he'll probably fall asleep soon."

The reason for his fevers is his mind, so sometimes taking medicine doesn't fix it. But just taking them seems to make Taiki feel more at ease.

"Hey... This is just something I overhead, but... Is your brother not going to school?"

I let out a gasp. But I was sort of expecting him to ask me about it.

Goz has relatives that live nearby and have a kid in the same class as Taiki. I wouldn't be surprised if he'd heard about it from them.

I fell silent, and Goz took it as confirmation.

"Aren't you gonna tell your parents about it?"

"... There'd be no point."

"But refusing to go to school is just..."

We were supposed to just have a normal conversation.

When I heard words such as 'refusing to go to school' and 'parents', I felt something take over my chest.

I don't know how to describe what I felt. It was something like frustration, or anger.

Whatever it was, it wasn't something that should've been directed to Goz.

But next thing I knew, I was yelling.

"Don't talk like you know what's going on! It's got nothing to do with you!"

As soon as those words left my mouth, I realized I was directing my feelings towards the wrong person, but I couldn't apologize.

Because Goz flinched, and then had an immediate retort.

"I see how it is! My bad for being concerned! Take care!"

He left the room after saying that.

The front door closed with a loud bang.

And at that moment, a wave of regret washed over me.

"What the hell am I saying..."

Goz was just worried.

He may know my parents are strange, but he can't imagine they'd be so awful that they'd ignore that their son misses school or gets sick.

I just sat there, slumped over and clutching my head. I pulled on my own hair.

... I just want to protect Taiki.

I just want to be "normal" friends with Goz.

But no matter how much I try to pretend, I'm not normal at all-- I'm that fraud boy, after all.

For a while, I believed nothing was going to work out.

My thoughts after reading Chapter 100 ~ 103

*beware of spoilers ( Blue academy arc )

Oh dear God do we really need to start off in such an intense way ?!??! No way principal emme is really dead, I literally thought it was just a prank again, like, Ron just came back and talked to her after such a long time, no way she just- also that uh "thing" on the laptop, way to add to the horror I guess uh...miss?? And can I just say, that line "until you solve that, this situation will continue" and the principals dead body showing up in the same shot, really adds to the suspense, I love it.

One of these again? It's the auberge arc...but worse...! way to many suspects...and possible victims, and most of them are just high school students, I don't really know who to suspect though, don't think it's Yudi, and especially not Marsh, unless we're going the "the most unsuspicious is the most suspicious" route, but I don't think so.

You don't know how stressed out I was while reading this part, especially when I saw what the guard said, absolutely terrifying but atleast night acknowledges Ron's skill, really nice set up, since he seems quite similar to how Ron was like in Blue academy, and the fact that night knows about Ron's recently proven innocence? I love this guy's even more now.

Won't show what hutter says though, but that was where I was really stressed out, like, what do you mean Ron's in cahoots with the M family😭

Also I thought I'd mention this, because I have a really special way of reading the Rkdd manga, where I tackle big cases that are 100% related to the main story, then small cases that either are not related or I don't know their related

To use season 2 as an example, I would read the Shibuya arc and Auberge arc first, then read the chapters in between, so what I'm saying is that I know the general plot, hence why I don't talk about the 'thing' that much, since it wouldn't be a first reaction to it.

Cole wakes up in The Land of Lost Things. The few inhabitants teach him that even those who are lost can be loved.

Takes place before episode 16: The Land of Lost Things. Major Dragons Rising spoilers

It happened in an instant.

He had just saved a few people as the world swirled around him and the sky was splitting open like it was being ripped apart by invisible hands when he felt the blast hit him directly in the torso.

The next thing he knew, he was laying on the hard, rocky ground; the pain coming from what he assumed was a fall radiating in his chest and when he managed to blink his eyes open for a moment, he was surrounded by piles of junk and dust.

At first, he thought it was the junkyard belonging to Jay’s parents, but another blink and he knew that all the colors around him were too muted to be the colorful and happy junkyard. This place looked somber and lifeless in comparison.

He let his eyes close again, just for a minute, and that’s when he heard it.

“Fritz, Fritz!” A young voice with a slight lisp called out, “Fritz, I found a human!”

“Whoa. We gotta tell Geo. It’s been…well, I guess you were the last one to end up here.” A second young voice, that he assumed belonged to whoever “Fritz” was.

“Is he…,” a sharp poke to his ribs forced him to open his eyes to see a young Hypnobrai holding a stick and a young human with what looked like a bird head on his head, sending both the boys yelling as they backed up.

“Not dead!” The Hypnobrai child yelled, and that was all Cole heard before his eyes rolled into the back of his head and he was engulfed in darkness again.

…

“New bones?”

“No, not new bones! A human, an alive human!”

“Yeah! He blinked and everything!”

“Did the hoarder see you?”

“Nope!”

“He looks really hurt.”

“Maybe new bones after all.”

“Bonzal, he’s not just bones. Cool it with the bones.”

“Lay him down here, carefully, there you go.”

“He’s gonna be okay, right?”

“Right.”

Cole groaned as he managed to open his eyes, his ribs starting to hurt more and more as time passed, only to look up directly at a Munce who seemed to be around his own age and the Hypnobrai child who had poked him with the stick.

“Where am I?” He managed to ask, his mouth tasting like dust and his tongue dry against the inside of his mouth.

“I’ll answer all of your questions later, I’m sure you have a lot of them,” The Munce explained, gently applying a squeeze to his wrist which calmed him down now that he knew that the few voices he had heard were not enemy voices, “but you should rest; wherever you came from, you got pretty hurt while you were there.”

Cole nodded, his eyes already fluttering shut because he could tell that just by the gentleness he was being treated with, he was safe here.

Over the next few days, Cole was in and out of sleep. He was too weak to stay awake for long periods of time, but whenever he did wake, he was never alone.

Sometimes Fritz or Spitz would be there, trying to ask him questions about who he was, where he was from, what was with the strange outfit, but questions made him more tired and he usually fell back asleep after only answering one of the questions.

Bonzal was quiet whenever she was there, which was rare, usually working on sewing something or building something else; but when he woke around her, she kept her mouth firmly shut and made sure to give him water or some sort of salty broth before he could fall asleep again.

The one who was there the most was the Munce; sometimes he would be tending to what Cole now knew were broken ribs, other times he’d be switching one soft but torn blanket that covered his body with another one with a similar texture and same amount of use. But most of the time, he was just sitting beside him and assuring that he wasn’t alone.

As the days came and went and Cole was able to stay awake for longer periods of time, he couldn’t help but be grateful that even though the others hadn’t come for him, at least the four people who seemingly were the only inhabitants of this place weren’t forgetting him either.

He didn’t know how many days had come and gone when he managed to stand on shaking legs and walk around the strange building, his left arm wrapped carefully around his lower ribs as a means of balance as well as keeping them from causing more pain than necessary.

There were a few toys on the ground near the small table, most likely from Fritz and Spitz; he couldn’t help but smile when he saw one of the old Kai bobbleheads from years ago laying amongst the toys he didn’t recognize.

He decided to leave it for now, and continue looking around; draped on a very ratty recliner was some sort of yellow and pink crocheted blanket but he couldn’t be sure if that was one of Bonzal’s projects or something that had made its way to this junkyard of a place.

When he looked at the wall above the recliner, however, he let out a small gasp when he saw it; the poster for one of the many promotions they had done under Dareth’s guidance years ago, the obnoxious text happily displaying “the one power anyone can have, go, reading, go!”

But most importantly, he was standing proudly next to his friends despite the soft green glow that wrapped around his body, and he could clearly imagine the wide grins under all of their masks; the next thump of his heart was filled with hurt when he remembered that he had no idea where they were or what happened to them.

He wasn’t even sure what had happened to him; all he could really hope at this point was that he had ended up somewhere that wasn’t Ninjago, even if it was because he wasn’t sure he could ever live in a world without ever experiencing Lloyd’s hugs, Kai’s laugh, Jay’s wit, Zane’s smile, Nya’s resourcefulness or Wu’s acceptance again.

“You seem to be doing better,” The Munce's voice nearly made him jump out of his skin before he turned around to face him, “I’m Geo.”

“Cole,” he introduced himself, wondering why Geo didn’t have a traditional Munce name, but he knew better than to pry and instead asked the question that had plagued him since he arrived, “where are we?”

Geo offered him another smile, but Cole couldn’t help but notice the twinge of sadness in his voice as he spoke, “this is the Land of Lost Things. If someone forgets or loses something, this is where it ends up.”

Cole swallowed as he processed that information; his fear of being forgotten had mostly quelled when he returned to being human, but when he would lay in his bed at night, it would still creep up occasionally and taunt him in the back of his mind; he had taught himself how to ignore it, but he had never processed what to do if it came true.

“So, Bonzal, the kids and you? You’ve all been-”

“Forgotten,” Geo confirmed, gently taking his hand to lead him away from the poster and toward the door so they could stand outside, more than likely so the others didn’t hear their conversation, “Bonzal never told me why she was here. I’m a Geckle, with the coloring of a Munce. I couldn’t stay in Shintaro, so I left. I came across this place a few years after I left. It was just Bonzal and I for a long time.”

Cole nodded as he sat down with his back against the side of the building that he only now realized was the shape of a giant rook, his ribs starting to hurt more painfully now. He didn’t protest Geo sinking beside him, or when his hand lightly grazed Cole’s, making a soft flush fill Cole’s cheeks, a singular thought quickly filling his mind.

‘I think I like him.’

“Fritz and Spitz showed up within a few weeks of each other; they both ran away from home, but they instantly bonded when they met. Now they run around calling themselves “The Finders” which means they’re also constantly scaring me as they explore this place,” Geo explained, before turning to Cole and asking, “What about you?”

“I don’t know. One minute, I was helping my friends save people while it seemed like the sky was splitting open and the world was collapsing in on itself and the next thing I knew, I was on the ground,” Cole explained, looking directly into Geo’s eyes as he told him, “I wasn’t forgotten.”

“Maybe not,” Geo shrugged, “but given that you’re here and your friends are not, you were lost in The Merge.”

“The Merge?”

“You just described the merging of all sixteen realms. My guess is that you were in the center of it, which is why you got separated from your friends.”

“I need to get back to Ninjago,” Cole said as he stood up, his chest throbbing at the sudden movement, “I have to find out if they’re okay-”

“And you will,” Geo insisted as he stood up as well before gently placing a hand on Cole’s shoulder which calmed down some of the panicking that was filling his mind, “but you’re still injured. Until we can find a safe way to get you back to your home, you should stay here.”

Cole nodded; as much as he wanted to find the others, he knew that it would be foolish to run off with no plan, no backup and no map; he had to be smart about this, even if it was the pain in his ribs stopping him from running off into the distant fog that seemingly engulfed the entirety of the land.

Instead, he made the safe choice and followed Geo back inside to get some food for his growling stomach and hoping that someone had lost a freezer that now held ice to numb his ribs.

…

As the days continued to pass him by, Cole managed to regain his strength alongside his ribs finally healing with the exception of some yellow and green bruising and with that, he was able to finally say more than a few words to the others.

Bonzal, it turned out, was exiled from the underworld when she had zero intention of working for Garmadon after he defeated Samukai for the title of leader. “Now I sew, and collect bones.”

“Why bones?” Cole asked as he handed her a rusty wrench as she worked on building…well, he had no idea what she was building. It looked partially like a hammer, but also like a VCR.

“Bones are extremely useful.” 

Between her vagueness and his flash of a memory where she asked if he was new bones, he decided to leave it at that; but when she would sit in what he learned was her recliner and sew scraps of fabric together, he couldn’t help but sit beside her with curiosity, mainly to find out what she spent her nights sewing.

Fritz and Spitz were always at the other one’s side. They played together, explored together and asked Cole a lot of questions. But, he didn’t mind. Every question they asked gave him a chance to talk about the others and the many adventures they had experienced together. 

Fritz was obsessed with all of his stories about Kai, which made a lot more sense when Cole found out that the bobblehead and poster were two of the things he had found when he arrived, the one good memory he had of Ninjago.

Spitz was a bit more timid around Cole, but not by much; he just assumed that it was due to the feud between the surface that the Serpentine still held, choosing to stay underground even just for their own safety. He still did enjoy hearing stories about Cole’s past, especially when they had to do with dragons. 

“You really got trapped inside of a video game?” Fritz asked when Cole went to tuck both of the boys in that night, per their insistence after he told them yet another bedtime story that just so happened to be one of his own experiences.

“Yeah, and it was beyond strange.”

“Did you get a higher score that way?” Spitz asked, which made Cole smile widely.

“No. That would have made it worth it though,” he stood up to leave, but turned back to them, “Get some sleep, boys.”

And with that, he turned off the light and closed the door, making his way to the room he shared with Geo until they found another bed that someone had lost; now that he was in the dark, he started to really think about the fact that it had to have been at least a month now and still no sign of the others aside from an occasional Kai bobblehead being found.

‘Maybe they really did forget me…or they didn’t make it out of the merge.’

The sudden realization, or rather, acceptance of the lingering thought that had plagued him since he had arrived, hit him directly in the chest like a tsunami and as it washed over him, the tears came fast down his cheeks and onto the mattress under him.

‘They’re gone. They’re all gone. That is the only reason I’m here, because they can’t remember. Not when they’re dead.’

“Cole?”

Cole couldn’t even hide the fact that he was crying from anyone with how hard and fast it came; instead, he welcomed the warm embrace that surrounded him and allowed his cheek to lay on Geo’s shoulder as the tears continued to come down.

“I’m right here. You’re not losing me too. I’ve got you.”

How Geo knew exactly what was plaguing his mind, he had no idea; but just his words, or rather, Cole processing that he wasn’t fully lost here, slowed his tears to the point where he could feel the sting in his eyes and the soreness in his head from just how hard his own mind had hit him.

And through all of it, Geo was there; gently rubbing his back and holding his hand tightly in reassurance; it made the quiet, background thoughts of Cole not just liking, but maybe even falling in love with Geo in the past month, flood to the forefront of his mind.

With how gentle he was with Fritz and Spitz, always making sure that Bonzal was content even if she barely spoke around him, and helping Cole to not only heal, but begin to feel like something that wasn’t a shell of himself, he was forever grateful.

“If you want, I have a small library,” Geo explained, which pulled Cole’s attention forward, “we can see if there’s anything about getting out of here. So you can get back to Ninjago.”

Cole could hear the dejection in Geo’s voice about the aspect of his leaving, but at the same time, he had to know if he could get back, and he had to find out what remained of the others; so despite his judgment telling him to just ‘tell Geo how you really feel’, he nodded and laid down, his eyes fluttering shut almost instantly as soon as his head laid on the pillow under him.

“Anything yet?” Cole pleaded with Geo as he flipped through yet another “History of Ninjago” textbook that, given the drawings inside, more than likely had belonged to Darkley’s at one point or another.

“Nothing.” Geo admitted as he slowly closed the atlas he had been looking at.

“We’ve been here for hours. How has no one lost a textbook about this place?”

“Because The Land of Lost Things is a story, an old wive’s tale to teach children to watch out for their important belongings,” Geo explained, which made Cole sigh as he ran a hand through his hair, only to look up when he felt his hand on his shoulder, “we’re going to find a way to get you home.”

“Thanks, Geo,” Cole smiled, now directing his attention to the shelf of folklore, looking for anything that remotely referenced The Land of Lost Things when he heard two screams that sent chills up his spine.

And not just any screams, but the screams of Spitz and Fritz.

Within an instant, he was running outside despite Geo’s shout, and that’s when he saw what was chasing the boys; a large monster made out of large metal pieces that were mostly black and yellow.

Cole went to run toward the boys, to try and use Spinjitzu on the thing, maybe an earth punch for good measure, when he felt Geo’s tight grip on his wrist.

“Cole.”

“I have elemental powers, I have to go save the boys.” Cole pleaded, watching as Geo simply resigned himself to let him go, but not before a flash surrounded their wrists for maybe a second.

With that, Cole sprinted faster than ever before, shouting “leave them alone!” along with a “ninja-go!” before barreling directly into the monster’s leg, only for him to bounce right off of it onto the ground, a wave of dust hitting him in the face.

“Okay, so Spinjitzu is not gonna work,” Cole resigned before hitting his hands together, allowing his wrists to light up as he punched the earth; but as he did, it didn’t feel normal; he groaned with agony as the world around him started to feel like it had been split apart that spread from his hand to the scar on his forehead.

He couldn’t keep back his shout of surprise as the monster picked him up by the foot and lifted him into the air before starting to shake him up and down.

“Let…me…go!” He shouted as he used his Spinjitzu to lower him to the ground before using his earth punch again, able to bypass the agony that surrounded him; but instead of a crater forming, he was instead surrounded by rock that encased him and raised him to the monster’s height.

“Oh, this is more like it!” He yelled, although he wasn’t sure what exactly it was, but instead, he focused on fighting the monster in front of him.

Luckily, after landing a few punches for good measure, the monster ran off which allowed him to let the rocks fall away and lower him back to his feet; but instead of focusing on his new rock form, which he had a feeling was linked to the spark that had come from Geo, he turned to Fritz and Spitz and used all of the authority in his body that he could muster.

“Are you two hurt?” When they shook their heads “no”, he nodded sternly and gestured toward the Rook, which sent the boys straight inside and toward their rooms. Cole’s guard was up as he followed closely behind them, but the monster didn’t show any sign of coming back for a second round.

‘One less thing.’ 

But as soon as he felt Geo’s warm embrace surround him, he let his guard down. “I”m okay, Geo. So are the boys. We’re all okay,” Cole assured him, waiting until Geo pulled away, “what was that thing?”

“The Hoarder. If you face it head on, it just comes back bigger and stronger,” Geo explained, running a hand over his face which still showed clear signs of stress, “when the boys go out, it scares me so badly that all I can do is wait and hope that the hoarder isn’t behind them when they return. Sometimes I can fend it off with my powers, but it’s rare. That sound coming from the top of the tower?” Geo brought up, which focused Cole’s attention to the noise he had heard from the beginning of his time there, “the Hoarder hates it.”

“Wait, wait,” Cole held a hand out, “powers?”

“You’re looking at the elemental master of fusion. At least, that’s what my studies have been telling me,” when Cole’s mouth opened in shock, Geo just offered him a smile that quickly faded after he said, “what? You thought that elemental powers were just a Ninjago thing?”

“That’s what that rock form was,” Cole processed out loud, “which is how I fended off the Hoarder. You…you gave me a new form.”

“I’m still learning how my powers work-”

“That’s what that flash was,” Cole realized before turning to Geo, grasping his hands tightly in his own, unable to hide the flush in his cheeks, “I’m going to help you stop the Hoarder.”

“But Ninjago-”

“You guys need help now,” Cole insisted, shaking away the pressing thought of finding out just what had happened to his friends. “My friends can handle things without me, but we need to get rid of that thing.”

“You’d really do that? For me?” Geo asked, and Cole couldn’t help but realize that Geo’s face was just as flushed as his own as he laid his hands on his shoulders.

“For all of you. But especially…I like you, Geo.”

The next thing he knew, Geo was pressing his lips to Cole’s, and Cole couldn’t stop himself from leaning into the kiss, letting the reassurance that his feelings hadn’t just been in his head wash away.

When Geo pulled away a minute later, confessing that he liked him just as much, Cole was the one to initiate the second kiss, his hand on Geo’s cheeks as he let all of his doubts wash away and let the love in his chest replace them.

And when they walked inside, Cole grasping Geo’s hand tightly in his own, he wasn’t even shocked by Bonzal just looking up from her sewing with a slight shake of her head and an exasperated “took you long enough.”

Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions Episode 17 Review - Beach Date With Mofu

The end of a case means the start of a new one! Why is it that whenever Ron and Toto try to go somewhere, whether it be a date or for work, murder mysteries just have to cockblock or even be a third wheel? I know it’s the premise of the story, but can’t these two have some fun without someone dying? It makes them look like a misfortune magnet.

It’s also nice to see Dr. Mofu again! Her clumsiness is seriously on par with Ron and Toto’s misfortune magnet. Heck, even her phone is looking worse than it did back in Episode 6. How can that thing still function with all those cracks? Anyways, Mofu’s role in the story to make Ron a medicine where it suppresses his condition. However, because it’s filled with substances that can be dangerous when mixed in together, Mofu has to be there to witness Ron taking it so he won’t endanger himself. Oh and she moved to his apartment complex as a new tenant because her previous place was almost destroyed because of her. Damn, just how much of a klutz can she be? Oh and Mofu is revealed to know Ron’s secret as he told her. It was sweet when she said that she supports them. She’s such a sweetie.

It’s sweet that Toto wanted Ron to have some R&R and suggested the beach as he didn’t want to listen to the rest of Ron’s bucket list. I just find his care for Ron so endearing. It’s nice that he also recommended that Spitz should come along, but he doesn’t seem like he did as the beach trip was only Ron, Toto and Mofu. Maybe he’s somewhere in the shadows like he usually is?

I’m actually surprised to see a beach episode where there isn’t that much fan service. The only real fan service was Mofu wearing a swimsuit and she rocked it alongside the platypus outfit. Toto also had an image of Ron wearing a platypus outfit for fan service too. I guess the biggest fan service was Ron and Toto holding hands as the former dragged the latter to the concerned surfers.

The murder mystery for this two-parter is about a surfer who drowned. Apparently, he had food poisoning from the food shop and wanted to settle things but never came back. This made his friends worried. Ron noticed that the surfer was wearing a dry suit, which is more suitable for a diver and not a surfer. I am afraid of water, so I absolutely am afraid of drowning, so seeing him drown in the beginning and then seeing the aftermath of it was a bit scary on my part. The culprit is obviously the store manager as he’s definitely responsible. He should be fired or have his store closed down because why the heck is he serving expired eggs to customers? Is he purposely trying to poison people? And it’s obvious that the murder had to do something with ice as all of his shaved ice disappeared when it hasn’t been the afternoon yet and the beach isn’t even that crowded. Definitely fishy.

Also, I’m always surprised with how this anime casts big named voice actors as very minor characters that are either the culprit or die off. For example, Episode 6 had Kenta Miyake as Torao, Episode 10 had Sayaka Senbongi, Maaya Uchida and Yui Ishikawa as those three girls from the cafe incident, and Katsuyuki Konishi as Spitz’s missing brother. I’m sure anime fans definitely recognize those names. For this episode, the manager is voiced by Nobuyuki Hiyama, whom you may know as Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho and Adult Link from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. What’s funny is that he was also in Scarlet Nexus as Karen Travers so this episode is a mini-Scarlet Nexus reunion as Toto is voiced by Junya Enoki who also voiced Yuito. One of the two surfer friends is voiced by Kentaro Kumagai, who has been a rising star lately as he voiced Laios from Delicious In Dungeon.

Anyways, I’m surprised this is a two-parter. It did feel as if it should be one episode, but I guess the production staff wanted to extend it. I guess it’s better to extend cases rather than rush everything and make it be odd. What do you think about this episode?

Phase 02-Book 01: Dia Rosa Rudje (pt .9)

Previously: Deuce felt a tug on his sleeve. He turned to see Meryu, face pale as a ghost. “M-Meryu-san?! What’s wrong?!!” The panic in his voice quickly caught Ace and Grim’s attention, and worried Trey and Cater.

“Minion! You ok?!”

“I..I don't…know…” her words slurred, and her vision faded again. The last thing she heard were friends' fearful shouts of her name before losing consciousness.

~Twisted Tonelico~

~???~

Meryu felt herself floating, as if she was drowning in an ocean. ‘Am I dead? Was I disconnected from [AR TONELICO] already?’ All these thoughts floated in her mind.

She opened her dull, lifeless eyes to see a void of darkness once again. ‘I really am dead, aren’t I…’ and yet she doesn't at the same time. So why?

She felt a hand on the back of her head and one placed on her chest. ‘Hmm?’ Is someone there she wanted to say, but her mouth felt like cotton; she couldn’t speak at all.

‘Th-this is…’

~Was yea ra spitze elle gatyunla en shen manafeeze oure yor~

“Hymmnos…?” She tried to process who was singing to her, but to no avail. “Lady Syreli…?” Her vision was fading away again; the last thing she heard was someone embracing her and whispering in her ear this…

~Please come back to me. To us. We still need you, our dearest.~

~Night Raven: Nurse’s Office~

Everything sounded muffled as Meryu's sense had come back to her once more. Instead of floating, she felt that she was laying on something soft. Her body felt like lead; she couldn’t move her arms for a few moments. Her movement caught the attention of the people in the room with her.

“MERYU/!MERYU-SAN!/MINION!”

Her vision slowly returning, Meryu sees Ace, Deuce and Grim all looking at her with worry and relief. “Thank the Seven you’re ok!”

“Guys…?” She replied back. “Where..am I?…happened…”

“We’re in the nurse’s office. You… passed out in the Dorm.”

“I did…” Didn’t something like this happen before?

“Ms. Melenas!” A loud, boisterous shrill echoed in the room. “I am so pleased to see you awaken once more!”

She cringed at the sound of the Headmage’s plight. “I’m sorry for causing you all to worry.” She went to touch her neck-

Only to feel it bare. Huh? “Where did the collar go?”

Crowley placed his hands on his hips. “Why, I removed it.”

Meryu, hearing this, perked up a bit in confusion. “You did, Mr. Crowley?” He nodded. “Oh…But why?”

“How do I best put this,” he pondered. “You looked closer to near death when Mr. Trappola and Mr. Spade rushed you out of their dorm. I assumed they were exaggerating when they said they needed medical assistance. That was until I saw your condition.” He crossed his arms, his golden, beady eyes staring at her. “I was hoping we were past the point of you collapsing after the Opening Ceremony, but considering the circumstances of what transpired in the Heartslabyul Dorm, I could not, in good consciousness, allow such a tragedy to continue on.”

She wrung her hands together, feeling embarrassed about worrying her friends again. “Does Mr. Rosehearts know?”

“No. At least, not yet.”

“Oh…” Meryu was at a loss for words again. She felt conflicted about the whole situation. On one hand, she did say some things to Riddle that-while mean spirited-were truth in their own way. Especially considering how he’s been treating his classmates. But on the other hand, if she had been more careful with what she said, maybe things would’ve been different than what they are now.

“Meryu,” Ace’s voice called her out from her thoughts. “Whatever you're thinking about right now, stop it. Don’t you dare feel any pity for that brat.”

Am I that easy to read right now? “But I-”

“Spoke the truth.” Deuce finished. “You told Housewarden how you felt about him acting out of turn to everyone. And honestly, Ace is right. You shouldn't feel guilty about any of it.”

Grim nudged his way into her arms. “And guess what the Great Grim and these two stooges found. We found some dirt on Riddle-san. Thanks to a little birdy who knew him and Trey.”

“You did?” She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “How?”

“We-”

“As much as we wish to speak more of these revelations, I do believe it is best that you rest, Ms. Melenas. We do not need you to cause such trouble again?” Crowley said sternly.

“No, sir,” she blushed.

He ushered the Heartslabyul duo out of the office with little complaint; there were some but they didn't want to push their luck. Leaving Meryu alone in Grim’s company and the Gentleman-ghost nurse’s supervision.

“I’m sorry that I scared you like that, Grim.”

“What? Me, scared? Pfft. As if. I remained calm during the WHOLE thing!” Grim puffed his chest. That got a laugh out of the Reyvateil.

“That’s good to hear,” she then started to yawn.

“Now get some shut eye. I’ll watch ya in case someone tries anything funny.”

“Ok, ok. Night, Great Grim.” She closed her eyes, dreaming peacefully and less in pain.

Once he was sure she was all the way asleep, Grim went and curled up on her side and fell into dreamland as well. He purred for a while in hopes to rest his uneasy heart, relieved that she's alive.

~Meanwhile, with Ace and Deuce~

“Can’t believe he didn’t let us tell her.”

“To be fair, Ace, she is still in recovery. We shouldn’t overwhelm her.”

“I wasn’t talking about that. Well, kind of about that, but I was also talking about the info about Riddle and Trey from Chen’ya.”

“Ah, right.” Neither couldn't help but think back to what transpired after the girl collapsed.

~Flashback~

After Meryu had fainted in the Garden, Ace, Deuce and Grim carried her away from their dorm, and ran to go get help. They didn’t care for the countless stares and people looking at them nor the girl unconscious in Ace’s arms. All they were concerned about was finding the nurse or Crowley to come help.

Lady Luck decided to pity the trio, and bestow her blessing onto them. They managed to find Crowley in the hallway leaving from a staff meeting. And called out to him.

Slightly annoyed that students were shouting and running in the halls, Dire turned to correct them, only to see the horror and panic on their faces, and a sight he had hoped to never see again.

“What happened to her?!”

“Riddle…collar…fainted…need help…” Grim panted. “Please, save my minion!”

He ushered the boys and feline to the nurse’s office immediately. Once they arrived, he ordered the nurse to get some supplies at the ready in case she undergoes a seizure or panic attack like before.

“Repeat to me again, exactly, what had happened.” And so they did. Ace and Deuce explained the whole debacle that went down in their dorm. From the Mont Blanc Tart incident to their Housewarden collaring all four of them, and kicking them out. And finally to Meryu growing pale after she was collared.

“Hmm.. You say that she looked sickly when she caught your attention?”

“Yessir.”

“And this happened after Rosehearts removed you four from his Dorm and after he used his Unique Magic on her?”

“Yes!”

The Headmage processed everything the trio told him, taking in what this incident means to someone like Meryu. ‘Any second later and she would've…’

“Trappola, Spade, Grim. Please move away from Ms. Melenas for a moment.” He ordered the Nurse and any other students who weren't in severe pain out of the office for what he is about to do next. “Pay attention carefully. For what you are about to see is something only a select few have uncovered and mastered.”

“Yes, Headmage.” The trio was confused, but they took their Head Master’s words seriously.

The bird cloaked man closed his eyes, body and mind in total concentration. He reached out and placed the tips of his clawed fingers on the collar surrounding Meryu’s neck.

The collar around the girl’s neck began to glow, as if responding to his commands.

“Under no circumstances is she to know of this. I highly advise you two- that also includes you as well Grim- not to tell her once she has fully awakened. Understand?”

“Y-Yes, Headmage.”

The last thing they also distinctly hear the Dire mutter before he stepped away from the office for a bit was something among the lines of: “I should probably look into bestowing her her own Magestone so this doesn’t happen again. Perhaps, they could help modify it as a…”

“I dunno what happened, but it IS kinda sus that Headmage knew how to use Meryu’s words like that.”

“He IS the head of the school. Maybe he took time to study it afterwards to better understand Meryu-san.”

Ace gave Deuce a look. “Juice, you cannot tell me that he managed to study what she says, something she sings for a living apparently, in only THREE days?”

“W-well, when you put it that way…”

Ace then decided to change the subject. “Anyways, once she’s up and normal again, we’ll tell her our plan. No doubt she’d be stoked to hear us kicking Riddle’s ass off his throne.” He turned to his dormmate, excited to see Deuce smirking as well.

i’m way behind compared to all of y’all, but i’m finally here with a quarter 3 update and plot call! as always, i’ll list out what all my girls will be up to for the quarter so feel free to either like this or just hit me up yourself if you’d like to do anything with them! though, once again, i’m uber slow these days so sorry in advance for my slow replies!

JAEIN

dimensions artists: might be a good time for anybody who wants to do a first time meeting perhaps at the shoot! jaein’s overall mood for this company shoot is that it’s really stupid

volunteer work: will most likely be sent to the orphanage. she was trained for this moment by raising her three younger siblings basically, and she’s naturally super good with kids. thread ideas include your muse perhaps being impressed that she’s good at handling them? or maybe you’re both stuck playing house with one kid, and jaein’s like i guess i’m your wife for the hour idk i’m half asleep right now typing this up

lucid members: open to any kind of schedule thread since they’re in the midst of promotions for love whisper and will be preparing for summer rain. jaein likes easy listening so she actually doesn’t dislike love whisper nor summer rain as songs; she just also understands the comments about how it sounds like lucid’s normal realm songs are blending together. as always, she’s a tired Mom as the leader

will be promoting a single starting august 10th for two weeks so anybody who’s overlapping in promotions then, i’m open to threads! jaein really enjoys island as a song so she may be happier during these solo promotions. of course, that doesn’t mean she thinks she’s good solo material so she’s forever questioning dimensions’ decision on pushing her as some solo artist since she always flops 

quarter three is just a continuation of quarter two for jaein. she’s simply Tired and exhausted both physically and emotionally so she’s probably not the best person to interact with if you want a happy happy thread

HYEJU

bc artists: hyeju probably gets warned not to be so straightforward during the filming of the documentary, but everybody knows what kind of character she’s like so she doesn’t even bother. anyway, there’s also the family concert and she’s not happy about performing those specific lip gloss songs lmao i mean lipstick is alright but she dislikes catallena with a passion

volunteer work: will most likely participate at the animal shelter since she’s a dog owner herself. if you didn’t know because i never talk about him, she owns a japanese spitz named romeo!

lipstick members: hurt locker’s a better song than news and ticket for hyeju so she’s a little happier with this comeback. likes her parts a little more too. generally always in the same mood during promos though which is i can’t believe bc is so cheap 

personally, she has a solo album coming up in november, but i have plans that she’ll receive news of it around this time in july, and she’ll start receiving demos and things. it’s a full album which makes the long preparation period make a lot of sense. it was claimed a while ago, but if your muse writes music perhaps she gets one of your songs and you get to discuss it? won’t make it on the final album of course, but it’s a chance to have your muse meet hyeju for the first time if we’ve never discussed anything beforehand!

she also has some performances throughout the quarter as lipstick always does, and if your muse shows up in any one of those, feel free to have them start a convo with hyeju! she’s my chillest muse which means she’s usually a good one to have first time convos with

volunteer work: will be delivering meals! lines up with her friendly, everybody sort of loves her image that gold star likes building up for her, and she’s good with adults so 

fuse members: i think all of fuse is just collectively complaining about hands up at this point lol but yeah suji doesn’t think it’s the right comeback track after something like psycho, and the amount of lines she has is kind of insane yikes. anyway i’m always open to threading with you all <3

personally she just finished up fine promotions and they were very very successful! i screenshotted the current chart because i think that’s the highest any of her albums have charted yeehaw, and she’s really proud of that work. it also prompts gold star to get her another single out before the end of the year, and so she’s back to writing! will most likely edit the tens of drafts she has rather than writing something from scratch because that’s how she works. this just means that other than hands up promotions, she’ll be pretty easy to call up and just hang out with? if anybody wants to discuss music with her, she’s all your’s! she’s very interested in varying her discography and stepping away from traditional ballads for a while tbh

oh, she’s also in the seoul group for base if that’s something anybody will be interested in!!

YUJIN

honestly, i’ve had a lost of yujin since the end of last year, and i’m barely hanging on here so if i’m not uber excited to plot out yujin, i hope you’re all understanding. though i do think she has some interesting points throughout this quarter especially since marigold’s debut is coming up in the next quarter!!

volunteer work: haven’t decided, but i think yujin’s the one that gold star will send to do as many volunteer work as she can so she’s open for pretty much everything!!

she’s slightly gotten over element’s disbandment. actually, no, she hasn’t, but she has to so she’s just grinding her teeth as she prepares for a second debut because it’s still a debut nevertheless, and she wants to stand on stage. gold star is being generous enough to not push her out into another acting project as she prepares for a debut though they did grab her that ably deal not too long ago! will most likely just throw her in another brand deal as gold star wants to keep her as relevant as possible post-producers fame so if you want a duo brand ambassador thing with yujin, i’m all ears!!
