New bot like comments on Ao3
I haven't received those in a long time, but I got 2 recently. Guest Comments. One saying in a nutshell that "authors should have a open mind and not compare our work to another author" because apparently I was angry & mean at a Harry Potter popular fanfic I had never read. O.o. One saying "the story is a masterpiece, the best I had ever read, etc" but on a 1 sentence fic and comparing it to a huge popular fic in the same fandom. o.O I wonder if those are AI generated or something.
just ... bot shit I needed to write out
Any1 else?
Any1 else got this AO3 issue? Even when I set my work to "guests and registered users can comment", I keep getting the message: "Sorry, this work doesn't allow non-Archive users to comment. You can however still leave Kudos!". and guests cannot comment on my work.
Oh... too bad for Guest Comments.
Guest comments: the roller coaster
You know, there are the odd guest comments that come up sometimes on fics, like someone quibbling because I had Wedge call Leia “Lei,” and “nobody did that in the movies” (did I miss a movie scene where Wedge and Leia talk? 🤔) At least they’re reading, I guess. 🤷♀️
And then there are the times when someone comes into the comments to gush about the fact that I’m writing a sequel to a fic they liked. And let me tell you, dear guest, you had me doing a little happy dance when I checked my email last night. So thank you. And I promise to get back to my next chapter soon!
…thank you for a wonderful stay on Bowen Island. I’m now back to making my own breakfast, but cherish the memory of the amazing breakfasts, the extra cups of coffee and our conversations around your and Horst’s table. How quickly you made me feel like family!
