This will be the first of a few posts regarding my wee pal Sam Douglas.
I’m one of Sams Guide Parents which is sort of like a Godfather for godless beasts such as myself. Sam was born with an undiagnosed neurological condition which causes epilepsy and global developmental delay.
Now, while there is no cure, there are a number of therapies and treatments that can give Sam the best chance of gaining some independence unfortunately, the NHS cannot support regular or intensive therapy for children like Sam. I know – I dont get it either – these treatments can and will make a massive difference to his life. Sucks eh !?!
There have been many events over the last few months to raise much-needed cash to enable Sammy to have these therapies and there will be may more events to come. This was one of them I was lucky enough to be able to tag along on. These legends, including Sams dad Kris, skateboarded (yes, skated) from Dingwall to Inverness in the, at times pissing, rain and raised a not-insubstantial bag of dosh.
