What an utterly fantastic finale this was! I'll be perfectly honest, my opinion on the Spellbound books unfortunately changed a bit shortly after I was finished with the first seven books, so I was a little nervous when I began this that my opinion of Demonized might have shifted in the month since I read book three. But wonderfully, my opinion of these books could only go up. The book preceding this one was my favorite before, but now this one just blew it out of the water. I think the best way I can put how good this book was is this: I so very rarely read real, actual written words anymore. 99% of the things I read are read aloud to me on audiobooks. That's how I read the first seven Spellbound books and the first three Demonized books, but I wanted to read this book so badly that I could not wait for it to come out on audiobook in January, so I bought the Kindle edition and read it the old fashioned way. I think Annette Marie has a really lovely way of weaving together characters and all their wants and needs and then making them all crash together in wonderfully dramatic, explosive finales. This brought me everything I wanted in a finale and more for Zylas and Robin as well as all their friends and allies. It was intense, romantic, fun, funny, cute, sad...it was everything. This series is going to be a favorite for many years to come and I'm so glad I finally got to read it.

I'm blasting through these books so quickly, I'm having a hard time keeping up with reviewing them before I've already sunk my teeth into 1 or 2 more books. I really loved this! I think it really breathed new life into the worldbuilding and it was a really fun, interesting starter for Robin's story. Robin and Zylas are a really wonderful, natural team, and I could genuinely listen to them banter for the rest of my life and not get tired of it, I'd say. A lot of authors suffer from trying too hard to extend a series, but Annette Marie is the sort of writer who gets better the more she gets to live in a world and this only proves that. I'm writing this as I've already read Amaretto and begun Slaying Monsters so it is not an understatement when I say this made me incredibly excited to see what happens next in this world!
The Guild Codex Comic Collection by Annette Marie & Ashley Zanardi - blurrypetals review

I finally decided it was time for me to return to the Guild Codex series after 4 years away from it, and I figured there would be no better quick recap than this!
I think the art is pretty good. Although it is a bit stiff in some areas, I really think Zanardi captured my mental images of each character perfectly, even if her renderings weren't always so natural looking.
It was a little funny how it was just a bunch of 1- or 2-page comics, would have liked some that were a bit longer than that, but that doesn't bring the collection down that much. I'll definitely be checking out Zanardi's Webtoon series after this, see if her renderings have gotten a little more fluid.
That being said, this was a great time and definitely reminded me very well what I read of the series 4 years ago to set me up for success in finishing the final Spellbound book and finally moving on to Warped and Unveiled. I can't wait!

Yes, this! More of this! This all the way! This! This was absolutely my favorite book in all of the Guild Codex books so far. I think Zylas and Robin's banter and chemistry are so much fun, and their relationship is absolutely everything to me. But not only does this have their absolutely fantastic relationship growing and evolving to an incredibly satisfying measure, but this also has the plot to back it up all the way. This was such a fun, exciting, and enjoyable read and I'm dying to find out how Robin and Zylas's story wraps up!
Slaying Monsters for the Feeble by Annette Marie - blurrypetals review

I legitimately thought I already wrote this review last week but I guess I didn't! I try to write reviews the day I finish a book so my thoughts are fresh, so unfortunately we're digging up some thoughts I thought I'd already buried. I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first one, but I really adore the way Robin and Zylas talk to one another. When they're talking, that's when Annette Marie is at her best in this series. It may be a fairly conventional fish out of water story, but their banter is so good, so fun that it doesn't matter how conventional or predictable some things get. This is a really fun series and I'm really excited to finish up Druid Vices and move along to Hunting Fiends to find out what happens next with this unlikely pair!
