scoff is given,   eyes roll,   acting as if his words are entirely too dramatic.   is monty okay?   no,   not at all.   he hasn’t been for a long time.   no one’s really cared to notice,   though,   aside from now.   but he doesn’t have any experience with opening up,   he’s never had a place where it felt safe to let his emotions out in any form other than violence.    ❛  god,   you’re so fuckin’ DRAMATIC. ❜   words come out with a snicker,   flippant as always.   it’s easier to ignore what’s happening,   ignore the bruises,   ignore the pain.   push it down,   never address it.   it can’t hurt him if he doesn’t actually accept it,   right?    ❛  if you’re so desperate for someone who’s not okay try looking in the mirror,   justy. ❜

💥: our muses share a tense moment.

She had liked him. Hannah had really liked him. And the fact that he couldn’t care less blew her away. They had been forced into working together on a project. Initially, Hannah had planned to just ignore him unless it had something to do with schoolwork, but she couldn’t help the frustration that was worming its way out over the fact that he didn’t even find the situation worth acknowledging.

Justin tried to ease the tension, to make the whole project seem like one big joke. Their whole situation was one big fat joke. It didn’t matter how many times he tried to make her laugh, to talk to her as if everything was okay; she remembered. She was still hurting.

When he finally fell silent, noticing how she didn’t respond to him, her gaze rose over her computer screen to look upon him. Nobody was in the library except the two of them. And knowing Hannah, she couldn’t keep her mouth shut for long. She needed closure.

❝ Why did you do it? ❞  she inquired, calmly. Serenity was on the surface, one that she didn’t believe she actually held, a storm of emotions being suppressed, a bit of herself that she wouldn't allow him to see.

Why did you do it when you knew I liked you so much?

he knows how this ends:  a cell,  barred walls,  the world closing in,  reputation ruined,  punished for their crimes.  this ends in flames,  insanity,  the destruction of who they used to be.  how dare they think they can play GOD?  how dare they decide who lives,  who dies & who takes the blame.  they’re pulling strings they have no authority to pull,  toying with forces of nature that shouldn’t be toyed with.  & he:  a key element.  the simple move of a tape in a locker has changed the path of charlie’s life forever,  doomed him to a path of guilt & fear & running.  forced to live with what they’ve done,  forced to face the consequences of breaking the law.  this ends in pain for everyone involved,  ends in disappointment,  ends in ruins.

but oh,  charlie saint george couldn’t possibly think that way.  face remains calm ( too calm,  calculated,  an act perfected ).  no signs of nerves,  no signs of the mess that is his head.  a mess calmed only by the drugs,  those same drugs he’d long since claimed to be clean of.  but who could blame him for a slip in judgement? who could blame him for turning to old habits? turning against your best friend took a toll,  even if said best friend had become worst enemy.  monty’s not so empty threats may have driven charlie insane,  but monty should’ve been convicted of crimes he actually committed.  even bryce walker deserves justice.  but he couldn’t allow that.  blinded by love,  or maybe it’s INFATUATION,  pushed to do the unthinkable to protect someone that hadn’t yet returned his affections.  the truth of the matter is clear:  charlie made a mistake.  he never should’ve gotten involved.  but tyler deserved justice too,  far more than anyone else did,  & he’d planned to see that through.  who knew justice was such a complicated thing?

❛  everything’s gonna be fine.  ❜   words escape with a calmness,  levelheaded as though this war was not constantly at play within his mind.  he wonders if justin can tell,  can practically sense the relapse,  or if just like everyone else he’d be oblivious,  simply happy to have an optimist around.  charlie won’t push the limits,  isn’t sure he actually wants to find out.  ❛  we’ve been over the story a million times,  ani told it perfectly.  they’re not gonna find out.  ❜   & if they do,  it’s not as if it falls on justin’s shoulders.  not as much as it falls on other peoples.  no,  when this all comes crashing down it’d only crush a select few.  alex,  ani,  charlie.  the others,  they could easily twist their ways out of it.  alex wouldn’t let jess get in trouble,  no one would let anything fall on clay or tyler,  the others aren’t nearly close enough to the crimes for it to hit them.  ❛  you’re totally safe,  dude.  ❜

he’d heard that justin was out of hospital,  but some part of him almost hadn’t believed it until now.    justin had spent the past few months insisting he’d get through graduation,  maybe luke should’ve had just a bit more FAITH in that.    luke’s aware that he’s a bit bigger than justin,  aware that given everything that’s happened justin’s fragile,  & yet the moment he saw justin he’d pulled him into a hug that was definitely too tight,  as evidenced by the muffled attempt at talking.    so he’ll pull back a little,  though his hands still rest on justin’s shoulders,  still just excited that he’s here.   ❛ i heard you were out but — you look good,  man. ❜   better than the last time he saw him,  at least.

scoff in response likely doesn’t make any of this better,   ignoring attempts at help being his natural response to everything.    his arm is hurt pretty bad,   but justin’s the only one that’s worked that much out yet.    playing like this is definitely dangerous,   could cause some serious damage,   but if he pulls out of the game there’d be HELL TO PAY.    it’d ‘raise suspicions’ & his father had told him plenty of times that he wasn’t to ever do it.    NO MATTER WHAT.    besides,   what did he have if not for playing?    it’s not like he could go home & feel good there,   there’s nothing good for him at home.   ❛ justy,   i’m touched you care. ❜   words come out laced with sarcasm,   attitude always an issue monty’s had.   ❛ i know what i’m doing. ❜

oh,   how complicated that question was.   he probably didn’t mean for it to be complicated,   but it was.   back when she was heather she went to a new school every few months,   never talked to anyone long enough to really get to know them,   never bothered with small talk.   heather had a PRE-PLANNED backstory,   had a story she’d spin every time too many questions came up.   she & her father had worked that out together.   but her father was gone,   & she wasn’t heather anymore,   & liberty was a place she planned to stay.   all those things mixed together made such a simple question suddenly so much harder to answer.   ❛ oh,   uh — kinda all over the place. ❜   should she say where the original cheryl was from?   say silent hill because that’s where alessa was born?   but she was neither of them,   & BOTH OF THEM,   & that’s a lot to work out.   when they combined,   when they made her,   that was in silent hill but was that an answer to really give out?   it’s not like silent hill itself was evil,   it was a normal little town from the outside,   & realistically he’s probably never even heard of it.   ❛ i guess silent hill,   but i’ve spent,   like,   my whole life moving around.   never been anywhere more than a couple months. ❜   she could’ve very easily lied,   there’d be nothing to find out if he tried to google cheryl mason.   in ways that girl died a long time ago,   & in ways she’s only just come into existence.   ❛ seems nice here,   though.   thinking i might stick around a while. ❜
