Tried out this recipe for Guinness Brownies! I didn’t have time to do the brown butter stout frosting, but I can say that this recipe produces tasty brownies that are extremely moist, dense, and fudgy, and taste absolutely nothing like Guinness. Even with lots of extra Guinness added. Still, I liked them. I’ll see if the frosting makes a difference next time... or maybe I’ll try this cake with whiskey frosting..........

Also, if you’ve never made brownies from scratch, I will say that while this is appreciably more effort than a boxed mix, it is not at all difficult and the experience of melting chocolate and butter in a water bath is bar-none addictive and satisfying. You know that feeling of looking at cartoon food from your childhood that you’ll never get to eat? Weird, nostalgic, cravey but impossible to fulfill? Making brownies from scratch is like stepping into Willy Wonka. Amazing.
