This past Wednesday, 9/5/2018, we attended the Gullah Co-Op Fall Meeting at Barefoot Farms here on St. Helena Island. The meeting featured a variety trial update on fall crops from 2017 for taste and performance presented by Clemson Extension Agents Zack Snipes and Chad Carter. Brassica Insect IPM (Integrated Pest Management) presented by Clemson Extension Agent Justin Ballew. Brassica Disease IPM presented by Clemson Extension Agent Lalo Toledo. Insecticide & Fungicide Sheets, Zack Snipes. Spray Demonstration Snipes & Toledo. Flame Weeder Demonstration Justin Ballew. Individual Sprayer Calibration for attendees to try. As a farm using organic methods, we were pleased to see insect and disease control or preventative method that are approved for organic use included in the presentation. We were pleased to receive the instruction, socialize with fellow farmers, and network. As farmers we are always eager to learn more about agriculture and improve our methods so we can provide the best quality produce for ourselves and our community. #gullahfarmers #farmersoninstagram #veteranfarmer #agriculturepractices #agriculture #brassica #flameweeder #extensionservices #clemsonextension #1890Extension #vegetableproduction #farmers #womenfarmers (at Saint Helena Island) https://www.instagram.com/p/BneZw6zFbKd/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1fmujrcojdlzu
