My “Dream” rifle build

This is going to be a 2 part post. Part 1 I am going to explain the entire build and what all is on the rifle. Part 2 will be after I get some time on the gun and get a decent amount of rounds through it. So I guess I’ll just start with a complete parts list break down.

Light - modlite 18650 okw with a surefire cap and the Unity / modlite switch and a arisaka mount.

Optic - odg eotech xps2 on the odg Unity fast riser.

So with a build list like that this should be a pretty damn good rifle. I’m not sure if I’d consider it a “dream” build or more of a I wanted to build a really nice rifle this year type of build. I love the 50 shades of green look the rifle has with all the different green anodized parts on it. At the time of writing this I just placed the order through brownells for the modlite setup. All that will be left after that is the odg eotech xps2. My original plan was to use the forward controls single or double dimple ejection port cover in odg but trying to find one of those is equivalent to trying to find Sasquatch. In the meantime I am planning on grabbing a odg magpul cover when I place my next brownells order. That should do just fine until I can get a fcd one.

Overall I am extremely happy with how this has turned out and I am beyond excited to get it finished and head right out back to the range to send some rounds through it. In part 2 of this I will cover my first thoughts of the rifle, give you some overall weight with everything on it, and let you know my thoughts after putting some rounds through it. Since I’m single with no real expensive bills like car payments its time to turn this rifle, my BCM Mid-length which is my go to rifle, my “bug out” rifle, my main training gun from mostly stock to “ ripping the knob off at 11″ 

Spending money for diminishing returns is not something I endorse but, what the hell. 

First off is replacing my Griffin Armament M4SDII comp for this VG6 Gamma Brake. 

Then its an VLTOR A5 buffer system without...any VLTOR parts except the buffer. 

V7 2055 Aluminum/Lithium A5 buffer tube: The A5 length with the enhancements of the PWS buffer tube at the same weight as a standard mil-spec tube. (lightening cuts, drain holes, extension for carrier tilt)

If i was so inclined I would add in a V7 titanium port door kit and a Lantac nitride gas tube but thats just too much work to warrant them with having to take the barrel/barrel nut off and all that.

Are these changes needed, fuck no. Are they worth it, probably minimally but I want to shave off the ounces while upping the reliability of my weapon. Lets get a discussion of what you all think. What would you substitute or can you talk me out of certain parts?

Jade’s the best gun in the game.

My own attempt at a Jade Rabbit build below.

I’m also practicing my hunter swagger. We’ll get there eventually. Photo below the cut, incredibly SFW. 

For those not in the know: I’m building my own Jade Rabbit. It’s not entirely game-accurate, but it’s about 75% spot on. I won’t be building the scope or the loading mechanism on the side because I have to ship it home SOMEHOW and I’d rather it not get confiscated by security somewhere down the line. 

But here you go. 

Stats: 

Materials - copious amounts of super glue, bondo, and EVA foam. 

Time spent - I lost count. Close to 30-40 hours now. 

Steps remaining: finish sanding just a few bits here and there, modge podge to seal it all in, and then paint. After paint, weather and detailing and voila. My gun is battle-ready.

I will not be building Cyra’s armor build because it will be an absolute NIGHTMARE getting it home. Plus you do not want to know how much cursing, measuring, drawing, and eyeballing I had to do to get this just right. 

I did not pep any of it. It was hand drawn on a piece of cardstock and then cut from EVA foam. I used Bungie’s armory as a reference and holy shit it was difficult. 

South Korea is not cosplayer-friendly. I needed a lot more tools than what I had at my disposal, so I made do with something akin to a box knife for all of my cutting. 

I’ll probably build a better Jade in the future.

Last of the parts came in for my BCM rebuild. Well the first part. Centurion Arms C4 middy cut-out rail, tactical springs enhanced (blue) buffer spring, H2 buffer, and a Griffon M4SDII compensator. Still need a B5 systems Bravo stock, Magpul MS4 sling, Magpul AFG, some Tango Down rail panels, an AGL ACT trigger. Ambi safety, and a IWC M1913 rail mount for my Surefire G2. Oh and a D-60 drum. Thanks again @weaponoutfitters for the local speedy service and really good prices even with WA sales tax.
