Gun Emplacements, Ft. Casey State Park, Island County, Washington, 2005.

When invasion by sea was a defensive consideration, Ft. Casey was intended to protect the entrance to Puget Sound. It was an active military base until well after WW II. Now the gun emplacements are one of several attractions in a state park which also includes the frequently photographed Admiralty Head Lighthouse and a popular camping area.

Camouflaged WW2 Pillbox - Wied iz- Zurrieq - Qrendi

A British World War 2 era Pillbox, camouflaged to blend into the local scenery. This Pillbox was tasked with defending the entrance to Wied iz- Zurrieq, it also had searchlight emplacement but this was washed away during a severe storm some time in the 1960s.
