Back From Our Trip to see MC Chris in Little Rock!
We spent the night in Little Rock to see nerdcore rapper MC Chris live at Vino's Pub!
The trip there was pretty rough. it was extremely hot, my car's AC didn't seem to be doing much. We were driving at noon, too. We stopped at a Wendy's at one point to cool for a bit, then went back on the road. My little brother did the last hour o driving for us since I was starting to get highway hypnosis.
We arrived at our hotel and I didn't realize their parking was valet-only. Really baffled by how people would find this sort of thing appealing. I have to pay extra money, bother some poor folks who are being forced to stand outside in the heat, and stand around waiting later when I want to use my car again? Yuppie stuff is fuckin' weird.
Once I got over my grumpiness of the valet nonsense, the rest of the hotel was really nice though. The fellow at reception as really nice, the AC was great, and our room had super cozy comfy beds and a nice big TV to watch youtube on. We napped until it was time to head down to Vinos!
The sun was still out when we walked over, so that was unpleasant, but once we got inside we were free from the heat nasties. Some places in the building smelled like pee, but we were all sweating our asses off, so I won't blame the pub on that. We went in the back and found MC Chris at his merch table! I didn't recognize him at first because I'm so used to seeing him as cartoon drawings online. 😅 We bought a bunch of merch and talked with him for a bit.
None of the rappers had started yet so we ordered pizza and a salad. They messed up Ashley's salad (grrrr) and our pizza took a while but it was very yummy. Sadly by the time we were done with our pizza the first opener was on their last song, I poked my head in to hear him making fun of JD Vance and was wishing I'd gotten to see more.
He had a really cool helmet on too. :) I'm glad I can at-least look him online now that we're home.
Next up was Swell Rell, he was really cool, he had us help sing several of his song choruses, we had a circle pit for one of his songs which was a blast (it's been ages since I've gotten to mosh) and at the end of his performance he gave us all hugs. :D
Then it was MC Chris's time to shine! His show was also a ton of fun. He lead us in "FUCK ICE!" chants, shared stories about how working at adult swim helped him through the horrors of 9/11, and another really sweet one about after his divorce he was able to get custody of his son, and all the joy they share with each-other. He let us know that Swell Rell had actually suffered a flat tire on the way to the show, so everyone who bought his merch was helping him the costs of that. After the show we got to take photos with him too. :)
On the way back to our hotel, the sun was down so it was at-least less gross outside. We got into some hi-jinks with a pig statue. Once we were back in our hotel room I crashed out, we left early in the morning so we could get home before the sun came out again and cooked up alive once more. My little brother drove us and made great time, we got home just about an hour ago as the sun was starting to rise. :)
