celebrating the end of late wave 2 with a doodle :]
On the right of Jungle Inferno Day 4′s page it looks like they teased the Afterburner from the workshop for the second time, first being in Gun Mettle. The green part and the tube are a dead ringer for it.
Picture 4 and 5 are from day 2 of the Gun Mettle Update
Grinding For Mediocrity
All we get is crap from Contracts #DailySPUF #TF2
A new campaign for CS:GO was released the other day, and poor aabicus was suckered into it. After having to turn all his settings down to low or off in order to even play the damn game (a recurring bug that popped by Team Fortress 2 in the last Invasion update, remedied in the same way), aabicus spent a brief amount of time getting some fire damage and some pistol kills, he got rewarded with an…

Why the Loch-n-Load was nerfed (Gun Mettle, Smissmas 2014)
I know it’s not a weapon idea, but I felt like I should explain a little of why the Loch-n-Load was nerfed so severely, in addition to what it’s good for now.
Stats before Smissmas 2014:
+20% damage (with a variation of 5-6)
+25% projectile speed and therefore range
+25% self-damage done
-50% clip size
Launched bombs shatter on surfaces
First of all, for Smissmas 2014, the Loch-n-Load had a very specific revamp: it lost the damage variation that allowed it to one-shot light classes (excluding Sandman Scouts, Big Earner/Kunai Spies and at the time Cozy Camper Snipers). This, in theory, was in response to a video made by the YouTuber Muselk that showcased this exact mechanic.
Now, the Direct Hit - a Soldier primary - can do this exact thing, and it was left unchanged since virtually the day it was added. Why? For one, the Loch-n-Load was able to rain hell upon the Demoman’s hard-counter: Scouts. Engies could also be sniped from out of nowhere. The other major thing is that the one-shotting was a huge advantage for the Demoman. You could fire twice and take down two targets - with the stock, you had to fire four times to take the same amount down (unless they were Kunai/Big Earner Spies, as discussed above). That is a huge decrease in time, and therefore untolerable.
Another thing to note is that the Loch-n-Load was approaching a sniperesque status already, being unable to hit rollers. Its primary use against buildings was sniping from far off, since it had a range advantage over the other launchers. In addition, the high damage allowed targets to be eliminated from far.
In addition, the Loch-n-Load gained another shot in its clip, lost the increased self-damage, and replaced it with a blast radius penalty. This was the first indicator of what was to come: giving it another shot as well as lowering the blast radius made it less “extreme.”
See, the Demoman is a glass cannon. With a maximum of four pills to defend himself, he’s easily taken down by agile or bulky attackers (read: anything that can get close, or just sit there and eat damage). The Loch-n-Load halved that number, making him even worse at defending himself, and removed any bombs that missed - so very weak in self-defense combat. However, it also had a high damage with the blast radius of stock, so a Demoman could deal even more damage. In this particular case, it also had just enough damage to one-shot light classes. Then that was changed, and the Loch-n-Load was brought closer to the normal realm of launchers.
Following Smissmas, its stats were as follows:
+20% damage penalty (variation between 119 and 124)
+25% projectile speed and therefore range
-25% blast radius
-25% clip size
Launched bombs shatter on surfaces
Then came Gun Mettle in July of 2015, and the Loch-n-Load received another nerf. This time, the damage increase was removed and replaced with a 20% damage increase against buildings only. Its stats were now:
+20% damage against buildings
+25% projectile speed
-25% blast radius
-25% clip size
Launched bombs shatter on surfaces
Now the Loch-n-Load could no longer defend nearly as effectively as it had in the past, requiring two shots (one if the light classes died from fall damage) to take down most classes. It was now reserved to a niche of building destruction.
See, it’s far more effective than stock for taking down sentries in open areas. Examples are the road after Point C of Upward. You can snipe from afar, much like a Soldier with the Direct Hit, although you do have the arc of pills to help you. In addition, spam into a tight corridor and they’ll have a hard time avoiding the faster pills.
Verdict? I’m not Valve, but I can make sense of the nerfs put in place. The Loch-n-Load is more niche now, making room for the rising star of the Iron Bomber, the longtime black sheep Loose Cannon, and the undisputed king, that being Stock.
I can do more of these things, if you want. But for now, back to regularly scheduled programming.
The Eureka Effect (Revamped)
Press R to teleport to any one of your buildings
-50 max metal
-25 max health
Instead of that “quick”-rollout wrench of days past, the Eureka Effect is the answer to an age-old problem.
Valve originally considered implementing solutions so that an Engie didn’t have to camp his nest all the time, but they were unable to because it disrupted balance so much. Minor solutions include the Rescue Ranger and Wrangler.
But now, the Engie can come back to his nest whenever he needs to, in case it’s being sapped, etc. But be warned, you can be baited into doing so - a Demoman might lay stickies around your nest, then hit a building with a pill to attract you.
Plz tell us how many days are remaining for engineer Bible gun mettle edition
I have about 10 minutes worth of decent footage for a 30 minute long video and i’m a bit of a perfectionist. Also school and work is taking up a lot of time. I might however make a shorter video that is purely for talking about the weapons in the Engineers toolbox. This will mainly be me chatting about each weapon and scenarios that benefit them. If you’d prefer I make an analysis video over an Apostles Montage then vote on this strawpoll

Gun Mettle maps:
Nice payload map that’s been kicking around a while unofficially
Nice simple King of the Hill map
Best map to fuck around on since Hightower
A weird... attack/defence mixed with payload... thing? I dunno it was cool
Invasion maps:
Really vertical king of the hill map where you also get abducted by aliens? Pretty nice
An arena map that seems like it would be really fun to play on if it WEREN’T FUCKING ARENA
A map where you blow up aliens where you give them beer. Pretty much no room to run around and manuver but super vertical so pretty decent if you’re into that?
2fort. Fuck 2fort.
A few days late, but it’s finally over. Gun Mettle was the first TF2 campaign and it was really damn good in my opinion. Can’t wait until the next one.
