I could get behind having like trained security guards or something with guns in schools but giving all teachers guns sounds like a recipe for disaster to be honest...

Yes! Exactly! This what I’ve thought for a long time is we need armed security guards at schools! Like are we really gonna rely on the police? With the time it takes to call them, for them to dispatch, and then when they are there, to actually DO something…Several children and teachers can already be shot dead or injured!! Like in the recent shooting the police didn’t do anything for 90 fucking minutes!! Like WTF?!?

If there were armed security guards on campus, it would be harder for the shooter to even get on the campus. And even if they did, they would be a lot quicker than the police at being able to surround and disarm/shoot the shooter. Also I think that if there are teachers and staff members of the school who have a gun license they should be able to have them with them as well in case of such emergencies. Tho I’m curious anon what problems you would foresee w teachers being allowed to conceal carry on campus??

The other thing is I think schools should have is a lockdown alarm that can be pulled like a fire alarm. But obviously different sound from the fire alarm so people know to stay INSIDE the buildings and lockdown rather than evacuate.

There are so many better measures that can be taken to protect our schools and children from shooters rather than just try and ban guns which would be ineffective as criminals will acquire them illegally. We need protective measures on campus then just hoping for the best and calling the police when a shooting does happen and hope they come and do something in time.

Yesterday, I asked my father a provocative question in regards to gun rights, and his response was one that embodied his immigrant experience that a large majority of anti-gun advocate within this nation CANNOT encapsulate. In a rough translation, he said that the individual citizen should have the right to bear arms not only for his/her own protection, but to protect themselves from any unjust transgression, either forced upon on their being or their human rights by the government and any extensions of the government. Lastly, he alluded to Mexico, their national ban of firearms, and the citizens inability to protect themselves from government mistreatment and cartel hostility, as the prime example.
